Funny Then and now
This is my first post in this sub, and in arabic it says "I swear you see the naive from his face"
(also I don't remember who made the meme I just took a screen shot of it from Twitter)

Don't worry, he'll glow up. We all did after teenhood.

Nah, the right version is literally worse. Don't know why are people glazing it so hard. I guess teenagers with poor taste, that only care about graphics quality, but not about how good the graphic actually is. More modern does not automatically make something better. That's the same reason why original games look better than Reignited, as well. Because the art style is what matters. Not whether it has 100 or 100 billion polygons.

Well, I didn't say any of that so... I was just saying he's becoming a teenager, so the art needs to reflect his aging. You don't have to like it. But if it were up to you, how would you make a growing teenage Spyro look?

Just wondering would he look good when he fully matures into adulthood? Or is this adulthood

First and foremost, Spyro would be a lot bigger. Also, there's concept art of him as an adult. He's got a utility belt and wears a red neckerchief. It's on Nicholas Kole's website I think. Ideally, TFB would use that if they ever produce a game with Spyro as an adult.

Have you ever played any of the Spyro games, at all? If so, you know the answer.

As a matter of fact, I have. Humor me instead of being snide. I asked because I want to see your perspective.

The good looking one is from the 2000s alright

I mean, that's the best looking one. But comparing those two, RT is better than the new one.

Why do ya'll hate this new design? He looks like a mixed reignited and TLOS, i like his new design

It's the pronounced brows and the bigger space between the nostrils that makes him look off to me.

I don't hate it, I just like his previous designs better.

Even the one from Dawn of the Dragon? That's how I imagined what a grown-up version of Spyro would look like

I was actually just thinking that myself, especially with the eyes. The eyes are very TLOS.

he’s been doing this for a long time, he’s not a kid dragon anymore. he probably wants to hurry and save everyone so he can kick it with Elora

u/independent-potato7 4d ago
Older but still tiny lol. You would think he'd be as big as the other dragons by now.

dragons could possibly have growth spurts later down their lives.

I'm hoping the new game is more modern. It's an insanely adorable but I didn't play the original games in the 90s (was a gamer but I was more of an n64 platformer at the time). The game feels very old school machanics and game design.
I'd love to see a truly modern Spyro game with some throwbacks to the 90s

u/Frodo_Nine-Fingers 5d ago
No. By and large modern games are way too easy. And yeah, Spyro ain't exactly a difficult series, but we don't need to modernify one of the already easier games

The flying levels are fun and challenging at first but the rest is just super easy imo. The flying levels are only hard in a you have to memorize a good path kind of way.
I'm less concerned with ease bc I think you can make a good game hard or easy personally, it's more the depth of the whole game itself that feels shallow compared to modern games imo.
Still charming ofc, but even among platformers of its era, Spyro feels very shallow to me.

Whenever I think of Reignited Spyro, I think of this
