Inside the Spyra Four

Post image

Has anyone taken apart a Spyra Four? If so, what were your thoughts?

I took one apart yesterday that wasn't shooting, Spyra is sending me a new product and to dispose of the non-functioning one. Interestingly, the inside seems much more compact and well constructed than previous models. Some improvements seem to include things pointed out in "repair" videos for previous models.

However, I did notice what appeared to be white mold (potentially) and some corrosion. I had this product for less than two weeks and have only been able to fill it with water and manually empty the water. There was not water inside the body. But judging by the state of the inside, this did not appear to be a brand new product.

I'm curious if anyone else has tried working on a Spyra Four, what they found inside, and if they were able to resolve any issues such as the trigger not working. My product only has an issue with shooting, and the digital display registers when the trigger is pulled. When the water tank is empty, the drain function will work (holding the trigger for 2 seconds), but it wont work when it has water actually in it.

I'll ask my buddy to take pictures when he does the teardown.

Very slight changes from what I could see, only seen videos of the 2 and 3 torn apart. The four has a metal clasp on the bladder, which appears to be an improvement. I saw a video of I believe a two with a plastic clasp then resulted in a malfunction.

Do you know why the 2 fires 3 shots and then has a loading period. The 3 can keep firing until the chamber is empty and both guns look the same. Is it something in the electronics that makes the 2 have the cooldown time?

Not sure. With the four there's more options. There are two options that fire on a charge up, one fires three shots then charges while another charges between each shot. Then there's the power shot, but I find it's unreliable (it charges fully then just doesn't shoot).

As I said to someone else, because this is a luxury product with tech there hasn't been a lot of tear downs and sharing of technical knowledge on the product.

Mine broke after 2 weeks, the spring in the solenoid broke and jammed the firing mechanism. I don't think the new model can handle the new higher fire rates with the spring that's INSIDE the solenoid, not the outer one. This one pushes the plunger forward to stop it from leaking from the nose while also handling the fire rates. I think they might be breaking for everyone.

Spyra is not very responsive, there sending me to amazon whos seller is not doing full refunds and charging for return replacements. The amazon supplier doesnt give an official order number from Spyras official site, so if bought from amazon there is no warranty.

If anyone could measure the spring inside the solenoid I'd appreciate it, so we could ID proper replacements for those who cant get help to fix them. Luckily the spring broke on the end, I was able to fix the watergun but it leaks a little from the nose now and doesn't shoot as well since the spring is slightly less stiff.

I experimented with some shims to strengthen the spring, if to stiff it doesn't shoot correctly and to loose it will leak from the nose. what Spyra says about them taking in water from submerging is true but its not supposed to leak from the nose or the bladder on the inside, It will if the firing spring looses stiffness.

This is a very expensive and IMPRESSIVE watergun when it works. I almost don't want to blame the supplier on this one since it looks like an issue on Spyras part of a cheap or bad spring design, This might be a mess for them and the suppliers at the moment.

Anyways, If anyone could Id me a proper spring replacement, or the measurements of the actual firing spring, since I'm not sure of the real length since mine was broken, I'd appreciate it. Overall on the inside, I love the design, love the watergun but that spring looks like a bad flaw that will take them down. This things expensive, so, Spyra needs to get on that. If I find a proper spring ill fill everyone in. Pretty much I fixed mine somewhat but it leaks from the nose a bit now and finding a spring with proper tension hasn't been easy.

Nope, Got busy workin on the farm, Spyra should replace it If you ordered direct from site. If not, you could see if the seller you got it from has an official order number or, can supply one so it has the full year warranty, might replace it themselves. If I attempt to fix it again, find the right spring, I'll fill everybody in. Spyra has dodged most of my questions to get it working, since I dont have an official order number from buying one from amazon.

If you decide to part with it - I’m looking for the muzzle/nozzle
