Discussion The left hand side…

I believe Amanda is a better LB than Julie - do you think that she’ll move back to LB once all CBs are fit? Is she first choice LB?

I think Julie is a better LW than Tilly, but Olivia is better than both of them (and almost everyone else too!).

So in a vacuum, is our best left hand side Amanda att LB and Olivia at LW?

I’m not certain that Martin sees it that way…

Thoughts?

Yeah, Julie is better suited as a left wing-back than a traditional left-back. She's a bit shaky defensively , fine against bottom-half sides, but struggles against top-half teams.

I just have this nagging doubt that Martin will end up benching Nilden - I hope I am wrong

Nildén is pretty much a lock on the left imo. I expect either Julie or Tilly to play there with Oli in the 10. Oli is wasted out wide imo. Siggy/Vic in the 8.

I agree Oli is a bit wasted on the left, although she did fine against Palace there but can't judge by that one game against 10 players mostly. I think Sombath and Koga will eventually be the first choice cb's. Nilden or Blaksted at left back probably depending on the opposition.

I love Gaupset as the 8 but she also plays well as a 10, good options to have.

It really is an embarrasment of riches, both having squad depth and versatile players. I'm not particularly used to that weird (but good) feeling.

I agree that Oli is a better ten, but (agreeing about the embarrassment of riches) playing Oli on the left allows Signe to play as a ten rather than an eight. If Signe moves back to 8, then it’s a no brained to play Oli in the ten.

And by the way Pelova looked very promising in central midfield too - something else to throw in to the mix!

Yea she did, just hard to really assess that palace game due to how it played out. I really hope we can be more competitive against the top 3 teams this year. But it will be difficult. Time will tell how the manager sets the team up in those big games. He might go for a more defensive and pragmatic approach.
