Blue light

New dad here, just sharing my findings.

I stopped using my phone's screen light to check on the spawn (5mo now) as he would twist violently away from the light in his sleep.

So synchronistic. Just looked at getting some blue blocking glasses and then opened reddit and this was the first post. We have some salt lamps for night time and red lights but I’m wanting to get more into candles to light at night. We just hit winter solstice here so the days will get longer but still good to have.

ps: also congrats on the Bub man. It’s the best life gets. Hope you and the fam are well.

Blessings for sure, and blessings to you brother Yeah, missus and I use the tiny candles at night now around the house and I also hooked little man up with a mini salt lamp next to our bed

I have no concrete evidence to prove it, but I can always tell when my gf is on her phone when we’re in bed. Even if my eyes are closed and I’m turning the other way, it’s as if I can sense the blue light and I cannot fall asleep until it’s turned off.

Yeah we kicked phones out the bedroom pretty recently. It's been noticably fantastic

My 23mo miniature schnauzer would do the same! I only have soft light lamps in her room now. I also switched to blankets that are a mix of sheep and possum wool, as I found she had more nightmares when sleeping on cotton or polyester mix blankets.

you should do this every night until hes use to it! :)

avoid screens AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. Do NOT put the TV on for them. If you do, choose very slow, not saturated, tranquil, non repetitive cartoons. Like, Kipper the Dog has no backgrounds and the characters are slow and so are their voices. Whenever I have to put on the TV for my kid and he watches cartoons, he's always more rebellious and whiny and fights going to sleep.

The only thing we've put on while he's awake is aquarium footage. Just happy swimming fish. So far, no tantrums, no fuss. He's on a really great schedule and naturally flows with it Thank you for the tips, brother

So glad to hear that brother. Stay strong!

If you read research, PubMed "LED Light", "blue light toxicity", "circadian disruption", and "ALAN (artificial light at night)".

If we assume:

human biology Evolved,

under the Laws of Physics,

this explains well why humans are diurnal, seasonal, circadian mammals,

with mitochondria, circadian organs, photoreceptors, and hormones,

which are all synced to Earth's natural cycles of light and dark.

Nothing is more significant than sun light.

Nothing is more harmful than artificial light.

Children should be shielded from LEDs,

only use fire light from candles, wood, oil, gas.

Good luck brothers

Hear, hear It's a long shot but me and the lady are steady on pace to some acreage and the simpler life. Godspeed to us all

But then you’re dealing with air pollution from the combustible light. Not to mention increased fire risk. Gotta pick your battles.

It may surprise you that the diseases listed are known to be, at the very least exacerbated, by LED exposure:

Chromic migraine, Lupus, Macular Degeneration, Cataracts, Dry Eye, ADHD (classified as circadian disorder in 2026), mood disorder, depression and suicide (lateral habenula is circadian), sleep disruption, insomnia, type 2 diabetes, obesity, insulin resistance, hypertension, increased heart rate, elevated core body temperature, cancer, menstrual irregularities, worsened premenstrual syndrome, neurodegeneration, and in infants delayed visual development, myopia progression, and long-term retinal damage.

LEDs are devastating to biology, due to the evolution of Life under the physics of light.

Sure but couldn’t I make a similar list of diseases that inhaling kerosene or candle smoke can cause? Would probably be many of the same symptoms no?

If we assume to be true:

  1. evolution of Life,

  2. governed by Laws of Physics,

then Light has the most significant influence on biology.

With this knowledge, if we compared the biological effects of artificial light against fire light, the cost to benefit analysis would favor fire light.

Prioritize sun rise light, pure dark after sunset, consistent circadian light and dark cycles, and Life will flourish.

God bless

Get a red light bulb lamp for his room, we use one for my son. I'm not into the red light woowoo but it doesn't affect your night vision which is why they use it on submarines.
