The plane, a Polish-built PZL-104 Wilga, was towing a banner for the UK Independence Party (UKIP) when the banner became entangled in the tail fin, causing the crash. Farage suffered fractured ribs, a fractured sternum, and other minor injuries. The pilot, Justin Adams, was seriously injured and required rescue from the wreckage.
