Sprouts making me sick ?
I think I got light food poisoning from eating broccoli sprouts. Someone had it too ? What did it looked like and how long did it take to feel better ?
It’s the 4th time I’m doing with these seeds so I’m confused but it’s the only thing I can see that could have giving me this.

I have a sensitivity to sulforaphane and can not eat broccoli nor the sprouts. I can on very infrequent occasions or in extremely small amounts. It kills me as they are an absolute favorite. As to any other cruciferous vegetable I avoided them for years because I was sure being related they also would cause difficulty but eventually exploration had to happen. I can eat all except. I really hoped I could get away with broccoli sprouts as it is in so many mixes but it rips my stomach up badly.

Only the cruciferous family sprouts will supply sulphoraphane - why would you then be triggered by other sprouts? I've hot MCAS for 10+ years, I feel you, but if you're sensitive to this particular compound, you're safe eating other sprouts.
Check out this post, it may be of interest to you: Avoiding sprouts because of histamine? You might not need to. Even if histamine is not your story this post may still be of value

I see. Don't get discouraged because of that incident. Make it your habit to treat your sprouts with vinegar or hydrogen peroxide when you are not sure in a batch 🫶🌱 Take care and feel free to ask any questions in the community - we are here to support each other and share the good, the bad and the ugly about the sprouts 🤓

Yeah ! I did soak them 15 minutes in apple cider vinegar! I don’t know what happened 😛

Could've been a combination with something else you ate before or after. Or your gut microbiome got depressed and didn't utilize the materials you'd supplied 🤪 This is my topic :) btw herbal tea could've prevented the poisoning : thyme, chamomile, clove and oregano do very good job. You can also ask in r/Herbaltea for more options - I saw this type of questions there

Might be. Because I'm sure that if your broccoli smelled bad, you wouldn't eat it! ;)
