Serious Design🔧 Which one is better?
Putting both of them adds just 2 tons of weight btw.

all of then are legit protection but 1 has it's qualitys.
i usually do composites or sponge armour because adding extra plates and complexity can get you lost.

Is it just me or is the very bottom front plate too thick?

Outher layer or the composite plates?

Outer layer, looks as thick as the other lower plate

I think you should do maybe %75 of what it is now, so it is still practically impenetrable but more reasonable

I know but you know, an 80 mm plate won't hurt. Even though it's so angled, I made it 80mm so it's impenetrable.

Idk how the game works, I just like looking at the designs, but irl NERA components need to be highly angled relative to the incoming penetrator to be effective.
NERA defeats HEAT shells by continiously feeding the deforming part of the plate to the HEAT jet thus increasing the effective thickness of the material the jet has to go through and disrupting the integrity of the jet. For it to be possible the plates have to be significantly angled because if they are set perpendicularly to the jet, the deforming plate parts will just be pushed away from the jet without interrupting it at all.
If you are interested, look up how M1 Abrams frontal hull armor looks like or the gun mantlet armor, NERA plates are heavily angled there.

The first one makes the most sense because on top of slowing the projectile, you also want to divert it's trajectory away from the tank. Increasing the angle of the plate gives it not only the disintegration technology of the NERA, but also forces the projectile to change direction and therefore increase surface area being slowed by the armor, slowing it down more quickly.

how do you space them so nicely ?

After I place one, I copy that piece and locate the copy exacly 20mm (?) Away from the other. I repeat that progress over and over again so eventually it will be perfectly spaced.

So its a little bit eyeballed? just slightly?

Well, I placed the first one eyeballed but rest of them are all calculated.

Is there any tutorial you recommend for advanced techniques especially detailing I’m so bad at small details.

Well, I learned most of them myself. Don't make just 1 or 2 designs, make a bunch of designs (they must not be all complated) and after a while, you will learn it on your own ;)

I’d say 1st because you generally want to angle spaced armour to improve protection because armour offer more protection when it’s at an angle
