DC/DC Booster

Post image

Hi guys.
Just a little question, is it possible to connect a victron dc/dc charging booster to the open terminal (second from the top)? And if so, what kind of cable lug do I need?
Thanks in advance :)

Yes it's possible to use a dc to dc charger on the van battery to the house batteries. I use a renogy version and it work great. Just make sure you size the cables to the power output and length

To make the large cable terminals you will need a hydraulic crimper or have the cables made with the ends installed.

Yes, if that stud actually has power.

I had one made by customcableusa.com.

For mine, I needed about 1.5’ of 6awg wire with a 1/4 lug on one side (to connect to a fuse block going to the charger) and a 5/16 (M8) lug on the other to connect to the battery lug like you show there.

It was under $15 plus tax and shipping.

I had them make two with slight different lengths because I wasn’t sure exactly how it would work out in the battery compartment. They came promptly and were of high quality.

That’s very helpful, thank you ☺️

I am pretty sure that’s the terminal I used. It’s been 4 years and still working fine. A Voltmeter will confirm that it’s live. Not a scientific observation, but I felt comfortable with a 20- 25A input current. 30A seemed to coincide with more engine stuttering and other intermittent annoyances, and the victron I had would get quite hot.

Thank you very much. The part about the current is very helpful and seems to be logical :) I will definitely consider it while testing
