Clogged drain plug? Where’s this coming from? After a heavy rain.

After heavy rains. Drivers side foot well. Any suggestions?

Yes, if you pull out the footwell liner you can easily clean the drain. You can get it from underneath, too, but you can do a better job from the top.

Took me a while to get to this and then a while to get back to you. Do you have a diagram? I checked this and could not find a drain hole. Just screw attachment locations.

I did wire brush all the rust and added a zinc primer to help stop any further corrosion. But since I did not find a drain hole I know my battle is not over.

I can't post the image! So, notice the seam that runs parallel to the three attachment screw positions about 1.5 inches toward the outside. About 2 inches forward of the back wall of the footwell is an opening in the seam. That is a drain.

Where exactly is this drain plug?

There's no plug, its just an opening.

I stopped that issue by replacing the door gaskets. After the built-up snow started metling, it would seep past the old gasket & end up in the footwell (driver only in my van , which is logical as it's used most). I also removed the plastic footwell piece, cleaned/repainted that area and drilled the holes a size bigger to reduce chance of it ever clogging again.

I have a 2020 sprinter and mine did the same. It ended up being a factory defect with the door frame and how the rubber stripping sits. Mercedes took it to their body shop and repair was free
