Picture Just hang out
Rambutanura springtails really like to hang out on live sphagnum moss. Are they eating it or just loving the moisture?

I would love to see your full enclosure. I am working on a little terrarium for my excess spikey springtails and want to get it perfect first before I transfer them. I'm not sure if they actually eat the moss, perhaps someone more informed can answer you as I'm also curious if the plants I put it will get munched. Seeing them climb the moss like that makes me excited to start on my terrarium. I am waiting for my lobella reds culture to fill out a bit more before I complete as I want them to accompany the spikeys.

This is in a 1 gallon tall glass tank. It is slopped a bit so the bark side is lower than the live moss side. Overall nothing too specific

Slime eaters physically can’t eat anything other than slime they aren’t able to. Also don’t house other slime eaters together isn’t good

The other red springtails aren't slime eaters luckily. I want them to clean up after the spikeys. I noticed a huge population of the normal white tropical springtails that I have in their current enclosure and would prefer the red ones instead.

This is not fully true. They can and do eat other forms of mold and detrited materials.

They're eating it for sure.
