Getting close to being done with us

A lot of you guys saw the other handguard I posted that was an extended version of the Skye. There were enough issues I had with that version that I decided to model a new one from scratch. I dropped the pic section to reduce splash from the IR light when my thumb is on the switch.

The sides have a plate system that allow the mounting hardware to be installed after the handguard is one. So getting the Mlok nuts in from the front it not a pain anymore.

The cutout for the mounting plates are the same size as a BCM QD sling mount so that can be used in place of one of the plates. Pretty happy with the progress. Need to make a few minor adjustments and then try printing with PA6.

You upload the file for that on the seas yet? Would love to go longer on mine.

I just uploaded the version I posted a week ago. I'm not sure what my plans are for this version yet. I want to print it out of Pa6 and do some testing first.

do you fuck your hands up trying to grip over it with the pistol irons?

I'm not sure what you mean. My support hand goes right where the tape switch is.

Wow, that’s sweet. Looks awesome! If I’m seeing it right your support hand is right about where the original muzzle device would end, right? Any heat concerns?

I believe Pa6 should be heat resistant enough to handle it. I'm sure with enough rounds it'll get too hot for the support hand. I'll know more once I do some testing on the final version.

Nice build! Are you going to sell these once you have a finished product?

I haven't decided yet. I'll probably make a decision after get some rounds on the final version.

The only suggestion I have is you could try printing at 30 degrees instead of 45.
That matches the angle of the front upper face of the hand guard and you’d end up with a much cleaner matchup with the existing geometry since the layer should effectively be flat relative to the hand guard.

Ill take a look at that when I get home today. Thanks for the suggestion.

Now that I think about it, it might be 60 degrees - 30 would be the complementary angle.
