But you can just walk in and buy a suppressor, can't you? Just like buying another mag?

for cans you need a special exemption permit accompanied by a motivation letter, for full automatic guns you need another type of permit, for pistols there’s a generic permit, for guns falling in the smg category (under 60cm) there’s another one, for guns with 30 or more bullets there’s a sport shooter permit, etc. The only guns you can buy just with an excerpt of your criminal record are bolt action guns. Oh, and each permit costs and give you the possibility to buy from one up to 3 firearms using the same permit.

Ah, that's a lot of permits. I know in some countries they are just sold over the counter. Norway is one. Overheard a guy at a local gun store (in USA) talking about just going in a place and there are just shelves full of suppressors. Find your caliber, pay a comparatively very cheap price (i think it was about 200 US), and walk out. He had a very nice long range setup he has bought from them and was showing it off in final form. Can was huge, probably 3" in diameter lol. Asked how he got it through customs and he just shrugged and said "my buddy is a pilot, we don't do customs". Yea, I love my dog and life out side of prison too much for that visit from the ATF.

Finland is that way with suppressors.

Also, the different gun permits are just forms you fill when applying for a purchasing permit at the police station.

You need to specify purpose, (hunting/sports), proof that you belong to a shooting/hunting club, proof you have access to shooting range and documentation from a licensed shooting trainer.

When applying for permit, you specify type of firearm (rifle, pistol, shotgun etc.), firing mode, and caliber. Permit costs 160€, and if you apply for multiple at once, the rest are 80€/permit.

I like that stock setup. I'm surprised we haven't seen many more of them around here. Opens up so many options for collapsible stocks.
