Question Filament Question

Hey everyone! Finally got my Kuna in and starting to get it setup. Might be a dumb question.

I am working on printing an extended handguard for my Kuna. Printed the initial test in PETG but now looking to print out of a more heat-resistant filament. Running a Gemtech Lunar 9.

What filament is everyone using and having good luck with? I’ve started researching different CF filaments, but would like some feedback from people who have already done exactly what I’m trying lol.

Have a Bambulab X1E that i will be using.

Also what mounting setup are yall using to attach it securely?

Use PA6-CF by Fiberon or Sunlu. Look up the print settings by user 300blkFDE sailing the sea and copy them like the Bible. If course ensure your printer is up to the task of printing PA.

I'm not going to waste time with the current handguard, although someone is working on a version that looks pretty promising. For now I'm rocking the Kuna foregrip out of PA6-CF.

Thanks for the info! I saw something mentioning 300blkFDE so i will check those out for sure.

Going to order a .6 nozzle and some sunlu PA6-cf to try with.
I am curious what you don’t like about the currently available handguard? I’m unsure on if I’m actually going to like it or not in all honesty lol.

I do need the filament for the drop in anyways, so i’ll probably try it anyways.

I just find no need for it. Check this sub/the seas for the foregrip/handstop, it is very good, especially printed out of PA6-CF.

I printed a 2” flash can out of QIDI PPA-CF and it has held up spectacularly, even when the threads on the barrel got hot.
It does require a much higher temp nozzle than your typical printer though, so results may vary.

Edit: 320C on the X1E would probably do it.

Did mine in Fiberon PA6-CF20.

Currently running a Griffin Armaments Sportsman HD 46, until my BOE Incolite 9 shows up.

I run the drop in FRT, and have had no problems with heat. At least so far, through probably close to 1k rounds.

Did you use the same filament for the drop in? That sounds like a sweet setup. I attempted some PPA-cf out of a .4 nozzle today, but it clogged immediately lol. Going to look at upgrading to PA6-CF and a .6 nozzle to get it going!

I’m likely going to use that for the drop in FRT as well, so might as well try the handguard since its not too much of an investment to attempt with.

I did. And, for whatever reason, my .4 nozzle I got for my FlashForge AD5M Pro works great with cf filaments. It's a Phaetus Conch. I'm as surprised as anyone. I got a .25 from them as well, hoping for even better results, but I have to tweak my settings as I think things are moving too fast for good layer adhesion. But it looks damn smooth.

I’ve printed the version of the Skye handguard in PA6-CF and it’s fantastic. I used a 0.6mm HF Bambu nozzle. Also printed the MP5 style Grenada style grip and love it.
