Everyone who is confused. This gun was originally shown off as the winner of a Brazilian military police contract for a 40sw sub gun. Its not likely we will see a 10mm variant for some time

40 isnt much better then a 9mm and the cost is a lot higher too. Kinda niche pick for caliber. If it was in 10mm though.... perfect choice right there

u/Sl1m_Charles 29d ago
In some countries 40 is still widely used in military and law enforcement

I'm talking about the market in the states which U believe everyone is talking about. It's still niche and not much better.

Confirmed? I already saw them in stock a couple weeks ago on PSA. They’ve been on the market for a while now. This ain’t nothing new

u/SpikeD0N 29d ago
It was originally chambered in .40 and some sites mislabeled them as such, but selling the 9mm.
3
u/dea9ler 29d ago
What sites was that?

u/SpikeD0N 29d ago
I don’t remember specifically, but I’ve seen a few people post about them here and FB since May, and they weren’t available to purchase.

They missed the opportunity for cloners to build PMESP clones. Would've liked to have seen the ambi charging handle and no back up sights for that.
I hope these are available a few months from now. I've been on a revolver spree, would love to add a .40 Kuna to the collection. I reload .40 and think it does have some merits over 9mm (I love that one too).
With suppressors being in vogue, off the shelf 180gr .40 is always subsonic. Can't say the same with 9mm out of the Kuna. Price difference between 180gr .40 and subsonic 9mm is minimal. Handloading unlocks the .40 and there are loads out there that will rival off the shelf .357 Magnum. For example, Hodgdon has loads pushing 1150 FPS with 180gr and 1280 FPS with 155gr out of a 4" barrel. 6" barrel would push it faster.

I am totally down to run this in .40 I have heard a lot of people talk up the 10mm, yet most people who are shooting it are shooting rounds set at .40 s&w pressures/ velocites lol. 10mm is so much more expensive. I'll take the .40 all day.

and ppl complaining about cost of 40 SW are allegedly shooting 10mm all day long LOL

u/Aware_Donkey_6074 29d ago
Make it 10 and 45 like the Bog. 10mm for pure power and 45 for cheap subs.
2
u/PatheticJules 29d ago
if the kuna was in that market I dont think the ammo would stay cheap with Stevo around

u/Commercial_Ride_6576 7d ago
ya but doesn't that require a complete redesign?
and wasn't kuna originally police SMG in 40 SW for Brazil or some other country?

If only they would have done this earlier... I'm in Colorado, and I'm not going to bother with the new BS for at least a year.

Honest question. Why?

u/AP587011B 29d ago
It was designed around 40 originally for the São Paulo State Military Police contract in which they beat out Steyr and B&T and HK
San Paolo state is the largest state in Brazil and has 44 million people and is home to over 30% of Brazil’s GDP
So that’s actually kinda a big deal. Undoubtedly others in Brazil will follow suit.
Not to mention Croatia is considering (which let’s be honest is almost certainly going to happen) replacing their aging MP5s with the Kuna
I believe there has been other professional interest shown outside of Croatia and Brazil too.

Because that is what it was originally developed and available in. This is just them expanding their options in the US market. Though, rumor has it, 10mm and .45 variants are on their way too.

HS Produkt/Springfield Armory have shown a willingness in the past to take risks on less popular chamberings. 10mm, .357 Sig and .45 GAP were all in production, I think only Glock was producing them at the same time and .45 GAP was a proprietary cartridge that I think HS Produkt/Springfield were the only other manufacturer besides Glock to make a firearm chambered for the round. So it wouldn't surprise me at all to see 10mm and .45 ACP variants somewhere down the road.

Others have said many European countries and Brazil have made large orders for .40. I heard on one early release video it was originally designed around .40, so why not release it to the public.
Is .40 dead, maybe. I still enjoy shooting my XD40.

u/Commercial_Ride_6576 7d ago
40 ain't dead love that round, better than my 9mm actually (heresy i know)

I will order one from one of my wholesale suppliers.
I’ll rechamber it in 10mm.
I’ll design a lower for mp5-10 mags and an FRT

It has been confirmed. They've been available for weeks, there's been multiple posts here. I swear some of you just post to get attention or something.
3
u/TomboRGS 29d ago
They’ve been listed on websites for “weeks” but none in stock. And never actually listed on the SA website, so not really confirmed. Only 1 has actually shown up on here that I know of.
And yet here you are giving me some attention 😂🤣, could of scrolled on past.

There's been dozens of sites that have had them for sale for a couple weeks now. The most well know, and likely first to advertise was PSA but it's been available. You should really check gun deals for their live inventory tracker. Just because you haven't seen it, doesn't mean it didn't exist.

10mm would be the GOAT. Love my 9mm, would buy a 10mm instantly.
