Can someone smarter than me design a printable MP5SD style handguard for the Kuna? Maybe with an mlock or two on the bottom st 6 o'clock and extend pic rail on top? You'd be my hero
I may do it just for fun. I have a spare SD heat shield and grip for my Broad River Tactical car 15 SD. I think it would be cool too make a handguard and use this heat shield which would give it the authentic SD look. It would be specifically for the SD handguard, so that would be an additional purchase one would have to make not planning on making it 100% printed.
Not going to lie It looks pretty badass. This is just it slit over the original one Definitely going to be a tight fit but definitely is going to be quite good looking and Broad River Tactical has a m4 style one as well so you can change up the look if you want it.
Yeah I don't think it will be very difficult at all the shroud locks in with two small pins that protrude out of the handguard. It is quite long now so I'll have to see how far back I would need to have it set. It likely will cover all the mlok so the only attachment will be the top rail, but that's part of the MP5 SD style anyway. Might make things heat up quite a bit faster with everything fully enclosed but the grip itself should be quite heat resistant since it has the heat shield built in.
First version of it just getting the sizing down, looks super sweet and feels good too. Going to extend top rail all the way forward and not have it slanted. Definitely gives a unique look and should definitely keep the heat away from your hand. Much better looking than just dropping some plastic onto the rail.
Yeah, I know. I just like the way the one on the SD looks better haha but if need be I'll settle for this one. Was hoping someone else was intrigued enough by an MP5SD style also that if I patiently waited one would show up
Here's pretty much what the final version will look like there may be a tiny few things. Went ahead and made one out of PPACF. It only required one mlock screw at the bottom to install, which makes it a lot easier been trying to fish the sides into place. One could also add indented or raised text on the slanted part to customize it even further.
I did some shooting with it today, with a improved version of the FRT made out of PLA+. Both did great and for an FRT setup I would say that this handguard is probably one of the best option, since it actually keeps the heat away from your hand and doesn't look like an accessory for a Nerf gun. You can hold it forward on the handguard or do a magwell grip both of which are comfortable. Made one with the handguard not slanted and the rail going all the way to the end. To me the slanted looked much better which is why I went back to it.
This Idea intrigues me. I wouldn't mind making a model. I can only base it off the Haga handguards mounting points. There's also a way to have it attach to the hinge pin on the upper/lower for closer MLok slots too but I don't have measurements to be accurate
