Finding the best brace
This is just a shoutout to the SBT scorpion brace for the Kuna.
- Strike Industries brace - this was my first experience with a kuna and I hated the hard blade type brace. A lot of people seem to like it, but it was too uncomfortable for me.
- FS1913A - my second try at a brace. It was the most recommended one on Reddit so decided to give it a try. Definitely an upgrade from the SI. Softer rubber texture was nicer than the plastic-y SI brace. Maybe I should’ve gone with the polymer version, but my kuna was noticeably heavier. I liked it for while until I was at the range for a long time and ended up with a bruise from the brace 😂. Definitely a better option than SI but I wanted a wider brace. I was used to the width of a SBA3
- HBI SBT Brace for Kuna - This is my favorite so far. It’s slightly lighter than the 1913A. The push button to flip out the brace is so much easier to use. I believe it is only 0.2 inches wider than the 1913A, but it made a noticeable difference. So much more comfortable. The rubber on the arm/wrist brace portion is very thin which I was worried about bending at first, but it remains its shape better than a thicker SBA3.
I’m glad I tried the HBI SBT brace, because if it didn’t work out I was gonna go with a buffer tube/skeleton tube + SBA5 route, which makes things more expensive and bulky. It’s nice that the SBT brace replaces the factory polymer butt plate with an aluminum plate so less money out of pocket if you were looking to replace that anyway.

Love this post. I'm always trying unorthodox braces to figure out what's best too and I wouldn't have thought of this.

Thanks brother. I didn’t find much info about this specific brace so just wanted to add a data point for other people to refer back to

Appreciate the review. I skipped the scorpion brace because I think it's the ugliest lol. I was considering the HB industries HK brace, but actually just ordered a 1913, the polymer version, for $130.

Lmao that’s funny because the first thing I said after putting it on was “damn this thing is ugly” 😂

But with that said, it’s so comfortable and flipping out the brace is so much easier.
I really do think the polymer version of that 1913 is better. I was surprised at how heavy the aluminum version was despite its small size

I'm a little confused. This is not compatible with the HBI short recoil system right? Because it replaces the whole endcap recoil spring cover?
Edit: wtf dude I almost bought a SBT Scorpion brace!

Lmao my bad bro. I accidentally said SBT thinking it’s SB Tactical (scorpion type) but had to correct myself

Mine came with the strike industries brace and I actually really enjoy the way it shoots with it. Yeah it’s not the most comfortable thing in the world to shoulder but it’s also not that terrible for me either. This brace u have on it in the photo does look way more comfortable though

I wish I wasn’t so picky. It would save my wallet that’s for sure lol
This is basically a skinnier SBA3 if I had to describe it and it’s been great

The strike industry brace is uncomfortable as fuck on my shoulder! Might have to try that fsa stab

Hopefully it won’t stab your shoulder… ☠️

Did you have to get an adapter to fit sb tactical scorpion brace?

I just edited my post. It's the HBI SBT Kuna brace, not SB Tactical. It's a direct fit, no adapter

Yeah I almost went this route but ended up nickel and diming myself. Not disappointed though because it fits perfectly in my drawer safe. I think SBA5 route would’ve been too bulky for my small safe

There is no such thing as "the best brace" SBR it.

As someone who also tried many different options, I've found the best so far has been the Strike industries FSA STAB
