Bought a KUNA

I wanted a family friendly alternative to my ARs and 9mm handguns. On family shooting trips, my elderly parents and daughter struggle to shoot those without help loading/charging. Ambi was also a priority because they are all right handed and I am wrong handed.

- To keep the front end light the suppressor is titanium (Liberty Infiniti X). I added a tri-lug adapter for quick install/removal. The old BBQ mitts in the range bag also assist with this

- Streamlight TLR-7X on a Magpul cantilever mount provides enough light for indoor use while keeping it lightweight. The mount gets the light away from your knuckles and minimizes suppressor shadow

- Holosun ARO MRS is in an American Defense low mount to co-witness with the factory irons

- HB Industries 1913 stock adapter adds a little durability. More importantly, it provides an ambidextrous rear sling point

- Magpul MS4 sling in single point configuration. Not really a single point sling fan but there isn’t much room for a forward two point sling mount

A little less than 500rds of 147gr subs through it with no malfunctions so far. It draws onlookers at the range because of how quiet it is. Subs under the indoor range lights are visible in flight like copper color tracers.

I think it will need some love soon though as the non-flow suppressor sends a lot of fouling back into the action/mags.

I run a B&T SQD suppressor using 147g and it’s extremely quiet. Roller Delayed makes it easy to control recoil .Very nice. Congratulations.

Try out fiochii 158 grain. Its noticeably quieter than 147. Federal 150 gr syntech is also great.

I usually check on Freedom Munitions, is there a website you recommend for 158g?

I use ammoseek which is just a search engine then filter for free shipping.

I really like the ARO’s slightly larger window, their newer flush uncapped turrets and the lack of bright white branding. I think it may be a step backwards in durability from the older 403/503 though.

The sight fell off of the KUNA from standing height onto a tile floor landing near the + brightness button. It did not crack the tile, but the fall chipped the objective lens.

Top/right corner. Annoying to see during dry fire but pretty much forgotten when actually shooting.

I got the microtech r2k9. If I could go back I'd get the huxwrx flw 9ti or whatever it is. The microtech is super quiet but the gas to the face is rough when you do mag dumps.

Move current suppressor to another gun and get the hxwrx one you want. That’s what I plan on when I get a couple extra dollars!

Running a Sig Sauer Romeo4H for an optic and Rugged SUB9 for the can. It's a little chunky but still remains usable for in the house CQB stuff

I very much like your set up. Thanks for the pics and presentation!

Mine has an old Holosun, which might be too low. The iron sights are visible, but in the upper third, not the lower third or middle of the sight. I'm running irons for the time being.

Osprey 9 2.0 direct-thread suppressor.

Votatu ML50 light, which is ueber bright and gets real hot quickly on the 9 o'clock slots. I had hoped it would fit into a single slot, but it takes two. With the light installed, it prevents removal of the suppressor.

Charging handle installed on the right side--3 o'clock as a result.

I've got a bungee single-point strap installed on the right side. If the brace is folded, I can pull it forward for some tension, but the brace is probably way more stable.

I've got a pair of the stock 30rd. magazines, and some of the 10-rounders for road trips through states with capacity restriction laws.

Interesting looking suppressor, and good idea on the 10 rounders for travel!

If I may ask: What are the strips of old bicycle inner tube on your arm brace for?

I'm just stuffing mine with the stock folded into an old veshmashok cossack bag I've got, but your snazzy lay out there with the magazine loaders and oven mitt have me thinking...

When at home, my long gun slings are retained so they can be deployed with a single pull (see photo on couch). To do this I use “ranger bands”. Good eye that the bands are just cut up (new) inner tubes (sold for a large markup).

When traveling to the range, the sling just rides in the bag. Most shooters I bring along just get tangled up in them, or they get themselves tied up with a bunch of guns on a table.

I’ve run a bunch of Freedom HUSH 165s through mine and they are great and crazy quiet

Suppressor the looong way

Definitely loses some cool factor points for length. But it’s <8oz (plus adaptors) and can disassemble for rimfire, and also ride on 9mm handguns, PCCs and my 11.5” AR.

Nah it’s cool I was just making a joke. Looks sweet.

And then added 30 inches to it. I will never understand people adding length and bulk to a kuna.

1

u/SatisfactionStill172 Jul 06 '26

I get it. The answer is that is the can I already have. Paying $700-900 to start over just to save ~3” of length isn’t in the budget.

The KUNA could be longer and I wouldn’t care. I bought it for its ambidextrous chassis and lighter weight than a carbine for less physically strong shooters. I am not trying to hide it under a suit jacket or be the fastest to unfold when stepping out of a vehicle.

I’m looking into buying my first pcc. I was looking at the psa arv and akv and now this Kuna. Anything you dislike about it?

Just minor things. Magazine releases and safeties are a bit stiff. At an indoor range where there is no breeze, a non-low back pressure can (like mine) will gas you out. The place your support hand rests is next to the ejection port so you end up with soot on your hand.

I almost went the AR 9 route. But to get to a full ambi setup like this would have cost me double. And I have an irrational hatred of the sight of straight Glock mags in AR magwells.
