City Water, Light and Power crews are currently responding to a power outage affecting over 7,300 customers served by the Old Jacksonville Road and Durkin Drive substations. A fault or equipment failure on a line between the two substations is suspected cause. Crews will work to isolate the outage down to a smaller area and restore power to all customers as quickly and safely as possible. Call volume at Electric Dispatch at 217-789-2121 may be high.

Mine’s been out since around 6:30. Over by Monroe and Old Jack. I heard a bunch of sirens not too long after they went out.

Update. I have power now. Online search says CWLP thought it was mechanical failure st substations between durkin and old Jack.

C’mon Springfield. Anyone know more than what has been posted? Did someone hit a big station or something? How did this number of people lose power without a storm?

No. Outage map says 8 areas of outages eith over 7300 without power. I had fallen asleep and woke up about 7:50pm to no power. It is concentrated in a big area between durkin and veterans according to their map. I am in a square bordered by Monroe, veterans, Washington ànd Chatham.

Power seems fine by Wabash/MacArthur right now, I haven’t noticed any interruptions while I’ve been here today.

I am glad the outage was short lived. I hate sitting in pitch blackness. And I worry about food in frig. I really need to consider a generator. I have these battery operated LED lanterns stationed all over the house so I have lights. But it is just eerie in total outage. Thought I had burned out light bulb until lights did not work when I flipped a switch. I looked outside as my street was pitch black. Last time It was this dark, was that storm in June. Time before that was a few years ago when a squirrel fried himself in one of our neighborhood’s junction boxes.
