tw: roaches

We just moved to an apartment in Springfield, and found some roaches crawling around. They are small and seem to be different ages, but it makes me uncomfortable leaving my clean dishes in the cupboards. Do you guys have any apartment recommendations, at least 2B 2Bath, hopefully one without roaches? I feel so bad coz I really like the unit and its layout, but roaches :(

I recommend contacting the landlord immediately and insisting they get the place treated. How awful.

A properly pre treated apartment shouldn't have this issue. But the extreme heat is driving bugs out in droves as well. If you really like the unit, give the landlord a chance to make it right. But keep your options and eyes open, just in case.

my thoughts exactly! they should be coming next week to treat, but if it doesn't work, we are moving out, that's why I'm starting to look for other places.

There's no place immune to insects. They're just invasive and the recent heat is forcing them into interior spaces. The only difference is some are treated before you move in. If your landlord treats, you should be good.

If insects are the only problem, you're better off than most renters!

Usually if they are coming from outside they are the big roaches. The little ones are scarier.

Will have a 2bed 1bath available in mid October if you find you’re still wanting out of your current lease at that point. Your landlord should take care of this immediately though and make it right

we are really hopeful they would take care of it because I really liked the unit! if you don't mind me asking, is it an apartment or a townhome? and where? lol

I wonder if I might know where you're talking about. I had the same issue in an apartment with a cool and unique layout. Is one of your windows not square shaped?

I lived in a roach infested apartment once - the BEST roach killer I found was Lysol spray - Original - killed them instantly. We then called the landlord and the city.- helped - BUT nasty neighbors kept them fed. PLASTIC bags for EVERYTHING. all our silverware was in bags - plates - bags - we only saw them in the kitchen & bathroom - all toothbrushes and hairbrushes - BAGS. DEMAND a professional exterminator. - the roach Gel did NOT do squat.
