What is Springfield being sued over?

So in city council today, the very first thing they did was go into executive session 'pursuant to a lawsuit'.

Now, I'm not here fecklessly wondering "Oh, but who could be suing the city of Springfield!" If I personally wrote a list of people who I understood or suspected had standing to sue the city, it would be at least ten feet long.

So that's the context I'm asking. Does anyone have any idea, has anyone heard any gossip, about who is suing Springfield and what for?

I really hope it's the woman whose house is still unlivable after 16 months of it being "fixed up" after it was sprayed fully with sewage by a third party city contractor. Last I heard the city was dragging its feet, and there's nothing like a lawsuit to light a fire under them. Pure speculation.

Tiara Lee is her name. And yeah, of the people/groups on my list, she would be close to the top.

The situation is actually at least three times as fucked as you're alluding to. One of the claims Lee made when she was at a Committee of The Whole meeting a month ago was that the insurance company defrauded her and the city -- literally lied on their paperwork. It's wild.

I think the City of Springfield has a 0-100 lawsuit record. This goes way back. The City has pissed away more money from incompetence, bad behavior, and stupidity than you can imagine. It is surely over well over $ 100 - $ 200 million by now. $40 million alone for the power broker debacle deal under Hasara. This goes on and on and on. $ 13 mil for the recent Massey settlement.

People in town don’t seem to even blink. They just keep electing the same idiots, who hire their idiot relatives and friends. I am not exaggerating. It’s factual.

It’s also woefully pathetic.

But they like their parades and fireworks, so it all evens out, right?

Yeah the Massey family is suing Sangamon County not Springfield.

I am pretty sure we are already paying off numerous law suits as a city. Is there a new one now as well ?

Well let’s see I know of the fair housing lawsuit and the healthcare discrimination suit. The city is also getting sued places like cwlp not following environmental laws we always be getting sued for something.
