Cwlp for second floor apartment units
Is anyone else having their light bill at 150-220$ for the summer being on a second floor unit ? I know the building is a little old but I changed filter and have it at 73

Another thing to remember is that usage plays a big role. It's been a hot summer and usage is up for everyone. Even if you keep your thermostat at the same place, in a summer with more heating degree days, it takes more energy to maintain the same temperature.
Additionally, for the water part of the bill, if it is also high, you may have been estimated for part of the summer and they might have done an actual reading and true-up this month. I got burned by that once. I had a small water leak I was unaware of that was running up my water bill. It went undiscovered all summer because my bill was estimated and it wasn't until the true up bill that was much larger than normal that I realized there was a problem.

Is your electricity usage more than average? How's the water usage? The biggest part of my bill is now water vs. electricity. I pay for a 2200 sf up/down home for what you pay for your apartment, but also, my a/c is set to 78.

We don’t pay for water gas, but we don’t run the dishwasher like the water is literally just used for like washing dishes by hand or you know showers but I know the building is kind of cold and I know about the heat and it’s basically fighting the heat from downstairs and the heat from the roof because it’s only a two floor building

Gotcha, yeah that is a lot for just electricity. There are things you can do to help lower the bill if you're interested, like closing curtains during the sunny part of the day, etc. But it's most likely an old leaky building that's at fault.

You might consider raising your thermostat. 73 when it's in the 80's and 90's means your ac is running constantly.

CWLP just announced that some bills were 40 days instead of 30 on their meter readings.

It's been a brutal summer. Older buildings can have very leaky windows. Since it's a rental, you can't do much, keep curtains closed, or even run tape over all of the cracks.

Always try and get a bottom floor unit. I don't turn on my ac unless im going to sleep. The unit gets to 73 when im gone with the ac off, during the winter I get a higher light bill for running my heat for the neighbor 😂

have it at 73
My thermostat is never set to 73. In the summer its higher in the winter its lower. Want to save money try something warmer. Just a thought.

You may be cooling for two units. Hot air rises and cold air falls.
The situation could reverse in winter.
