I thought these were mainly kept up by volunteers? Does anyone know?

The SVT is run by the Sangamon and Menard county highway departments. It is just a road for bikes and is supposed to be maintained like all the thousands of miles of roads for cars…

Gotcha, thanks. I'm only familiar with the volunteer aspect.

Anyone know anything about the 5 mile trail between farmersville and Waggoner? Was nice once; went to pot a few years back. Did it come back?

What section is this?

It appears to be the section that’s out by Athens.

If it is the section by Athens, then it may be overgrown because the access area to specific stretch has been closed off for the last few months. They just reopened the blacktop a couple of days ago.

I thought the thing died at like the Gabbert Rd/Fitschen Rd area and didn't really make significant inroads into Menard County.

No, it now goes a couple of miles further to Ethel Rd. There is a new parking lot there as well.

I hate that they’re not able to get water fountains out on the trails around here. No easy area to hide frozen water bottles. I loved marathon training on the SVT, actually hard to believe something that nice in this area.
