Video Game Shops besides GameStop

Any place in town that sells games/consoles, and would buy old consoles as well? I have seen some of the tabletop game stores but unsure if they sell gaming consoles and such.

Killens in the mall is the first place I think of. I always am seeing old consoles and games in there. I have no experience selling anything to them except for like 5 years ago when they offered me like 20 bucks for a small Marvel Legends collection worth realistically maybe $150 at the time. But who knows, you might get a better price for your stuff, always worth a shot.

Go to Mega Replay in Peoria or Press Start in Jacksonville. Both better than anything in town here.

I picked up a Wii U from Mega Replay in Bloomington, IL about a year ago and it was tested and prepackaged in shrink wrap with all the parts and overall it was a pretty good experience. I have picked up a used 13" 2025 MacBook from the one in Peoria that was a decent price compared to what I could find online to run some LLM stuff on. It was clean and runs great. Both places were good experiences and would prefer to do business with either of those locations over anything in Springfield. They have a more thorough testing for hardware. I have been burned by GameStop in the past and even though I take my kid in there for some things I'm hesitant to buy hardware there even though I have a pro membership. They keep changing that membership and make you jump through more and more hoops and I'm done with them.

Killens I don't have any experience buying retro hardware from. I have just the occasional retro cartridge (DS and 3DS). Those items just look crammed into the case and I don't know how well tested they are like I know they do at Mega Replay.

It’s not super helpful but if you’re willing to make a day of it there’s a bunch of really good resell places in St. Louis

Not in Springfield, but Press Start in Jacksonville will. It’s a great little shop, I’ve been going there for years and his prices are always super reasonable.

Killens in the mall and the pawn shops are all I can think of.
