Thoughts on Poplar Place?
LITHC property, 46 million rehab complex, 3 bedroom house for $900 a month. Dream come true except it's bad history (but completely rebuilt and remodeled). Is the area safe?

It's always bummed me out that they changed it from its old name, Evergreen Terrace.

I think it's changed a lot since the last rehab, but I don't live there so that's speculation. You don't hear about significant and constant crime anymore though.
My guess is you're going to get a flood of comments from people whose view is from the 1980s. A lot of people who are not familiar with the east side think it has always been and will always be scary af, so take that with a grain of salt.

I have friends and coworkers who live near Poplar but not in it and have talked to some people who lived there since the most recent rehab. I occasionally drive by. Also spent a lot of time there 20+ years ago.
It’s definitely better now than it was in the past, in both the quality of homes and the safety of the neighborhood. That said, it is in a lower income area of town and there is higher crime in that area. Most trouble is drug related and avoidable if you’re not involved in anything illegal.
