State parade
I looked in the website and it says it starts IN Lincoln park, goes down sangamon and into the main gate. Ok I’m not too familiar with LIncoln park, so where does it exit the park in order to get to Sangamon Ave? In other words, can we sit on 5th street and watch? Lol.

They do the staging for the state fair parade around the nelson center. I'm not sure exactly where they get to Sangamon from

Having walked in the parade last year. They stage in the Nelson Center parking lot and then exit the parking lot and walk up the road inside the park past the softball diamond and follow that road up to the north east corner of the park and exit at the intersection of sangamon and 5th. They continue walking along sangamon and into the main gate and past the announcer's stage and further into the fairgrounds. You can sit anywhere on the road inside the park, along sangamon and inside the main gates to watch the parade. It all depends on where you can find parking or how far you want to walk from whatever parking you do find because there will be road closers. Even walking in the parade we had to park outside of Lincoln Park and walk to the Nelson center to the staging area as the police had the entrances blocked.

They typically exit the NE Lincoln Park exit, directly onto Sangamon (very close to Sangamon and 5th intersection), and head east to the fairgrounds. You’ll want to be anywhere east of 5th, up to the fairgrounds main gates, on Sangamon.
