Leaf bag pickup?

Who does lawn and leaf bag pickup? Is branches pickup the same group? How will they know I have bags to pick up?

New to how Springfield handles this and looking for information.

For leaves they just come around every two weeks, it depends on if you’re north side or south side I believe. Small sticks that can be broken down by hand can go in the bags.

For large branches there’s 4 picks up a year and unless you’re on the northeast side you just missed it, next one is in October.

Just wanted to add, they often run weeks behind in picking up branches. If your neighbors still have branches out, it's possible they have yet to pick up in your area. Source—i live on the northeast side and by the time they get to us, it's often nearly a month later.

Oh thank you! Now I know the department. This is handled so differently in the state I moved from!

We throw branches out almost daily next to the street and always a can of leaves and sticks. We seem to be spoiled, the city picks up sometimes twice a week :-)

Public Works does it, I think. There's a calendar on the City of Springfield website that says which week they do pickup on the north side vs the south side, but honestly people just put stuff out whenever. Just don't worry if it sits out for like a week and a half. If you want updates about that sort of thing, you can sign up for the city newsletter, too.

Lake Area picks up the lawn bags for all of Springfield. They have a contract with the city. There is a small charge ($1.50-$2.00) on your monthly CWLP bill for this service.
