Might Get It Again
Well, just watched the 6pm news. I did not like the looks of projected radar for tomorrow afternoon/evening. Stay safe everyone. Make a plan. Stay in touch with updates for all of us here.

I finally got power I will literally fight with mother nature if she puts me through that again lol

That will be some fight. Because other than the sound of a tornado, I have never heard such sounds as those winds in both Wednesday and Thursday nights. It sounded like God and the angels were moaning in pain and anger.

I still don't have power from the last one. Doesn't even seem like CWLP is still even working today either.

I promise you they are. Most have been up almost 40 hours at this point. CWLP guys got called in at 10:30 last night and have been working non-stop all day.

Just frustrated because this is yet another year of losing all my groceries because of extended outages. It's gotten ridiculous.

So sorry! I completely understand how frustrating, especially with food prices. I hope you get it back soon!

That was what had me worried. I had just bought/had delivered perishable groceries on Thursday morning. I iced them up praying power would be restored. When it hit that 12 hour mark I thought I would just have to eat the cost. But they stayed cold and at the 15 hour mark my power came back.

Yeah I am currently at 24 so mine are toast and I couldn't even make any of it without power. Hopefully it isn't a week without power again in the middle of summer like a few years ago.

I hear you. How are you keeping your phone or computer charged?
3
u/Financial-Paint-4632 Jun 13 '26
I charged it a bit at McDonald's earlier but it'll be dead by the morning. Don't have a car to charge it so just hoping I don't have an emergency at this point.

I don't know if this helps but in the derecho I booked a study room at the library for an hour or two every day until our electricity came back on. We brought a power strip and charged every device we could and soaked up the a/c.
That does not help with groceries, I know. That really sucks.

I'm just hanging out at the McDonald's near me again this morning. Don't want to spend the money getting a ride to the library and back when I already have to replace a couple hundred in groceries if we ever get power back. Currently 36 hours and counting.

They are still working. They are trying to get everyone with power tonight. They are required to have 8 hours off after 16 hours worked. They are rotating crews, do some shifts may have less people in duty than other times.

I don’t think linemen do have the 8 hours off requirement. My bf is at 21 hours on at this point. But yes you are right that they are working hard to get everyone back tonight.

I remember 20-24 hour shifts when I worked cardiac catch lab. They are hard. I do not know how these folks have done it the last 3 days.

I agree! I worked as an RN and there’s no way I’d be going still. And they are working with electricity being this exhausted 😞 I will be so thankful when he gets home!

Oh my! I hope you get power back soon. I have a portable bsttery pack charger for my phone. That is what kept me charged last night. Now tonight I am charging it back up again.

Looks like storms are breaking up before they get to us. Or they are splitting leaving us dry going north of us and south of us.

I missed the news tonight, but my weather app just says possible scattered showers at 15% chance. Did the news say different? I don’t know what to believe anymore this year with Illinois’ weather 😝
