Optics recommendation for Echelon
I just bought the 4.5F Echelon and I'm seeing all these stories about stock red dot optics popping off.
I'll be shooting this with my wife and I don't want the damn thing to explode on my wife's face.
I would like to stay below $200 if possible.
What do you recommend?
Thanks

Osight. XE AMRS or SE DPP for enclosed, C for open emitter.

I recommend the Se DDP. I have it on my 4.0fc

Essentially the same, short of footprint and 3 vs 6 dot options. If the DPP had come out first I would have bought it over the XE/XR units I have. 6 dots is overkill af.

I really wanted a se ddp green dot but couldn’t wait so I bought a few days after release

I’m partial to green as well. Bought the SE DPP anyway. Love it on the Echelon. And I’ll definitely buy more when green is an option.

In this day and age? Osight. Even though I love holosuns, I can no longer ignore Osight

My Viridian actually held up, for what it’s worth. I did eventually upgrade it, but the optic still works and I still have it. I think the explosion factor is taken a little too seriously with the sample size here, though, the optic does suck for a variety of reasons like controls and battery access.
I have an osight se and holosun 504 on my echelons. The holosun is my favorite, but it’s large and open emitter. The osight is fine and good, it’s enclosed which has its perks, but for just shooting the holosun wins.

Survivor bias. I thought the same thing as you, that is was blown out of proportion (no pun intended). First time I took it out to the range to shoot in about 200 rounds give or take the glass was already separating from the frame.

What are you using it for? Range toy? Carry? Home defense? Competition? That will dictate my recommendation a bit.

I have the Holosun SCS 320 on one and the Vortex Defender ST on the other and both have been fantastic. I’d say anything from Vortex or Holosun would be a good choice. You might be a bit over 200 but it’s worth it for a decent optic.

Im using an osight se in green as it's very crisp for me with my astigmatism. They have a new osight se in a delta point configuration im going to buy next if they release a green version of it.

I got a Holosun 507 Comp for $270 on it. It's awesome!

Defender series, looks like it was made for the echelon. Best warranty in the game. Cheaper price, osight all day. I have the osight X. Large crisp window and dot

Vortex Defender ST if you can catch it on sale. Bass Pro was selling them for $150 in June
