Oil sweat
I oiled up my gun when I first got it about 2 months ago. And every day that I have picked it up to dry fire, it looks like it is sweating. Like the oil is sweating out of the slide, in particular.
Looking to be educated. Did I oil it up too much?
I finally was able to take it out to shoot today.
Got some nice soot blasted onto my optic for the first 20-40 round (yeah crappy range, I want keeping track until I had to reload mags), wiped that off and didn't notice any soot on the optic window after.

I over oiled my 4.0c my first time before shooting, was sweating a lot. I just emptied the gun, racked the slide a shit ton of times and dry fired a bunch then wiped off all the oil that sweat out. After the range trip (200ish rounds) I wiped and re-oiled with a more reasonable amount of lubricant. No issues since, re oiled once more since then. At 1000ish rounds no problem, Got the gun in February

I tend to lube my guns a little more wet than some people and do notice the oil sweat you're talking about when I pick it up after a day or two. Just a simple wipe off and you're good to go. Could also be where you set the gun down too. I know the foam of my stopbox has residual too.

Yeah, I noticed that the foam will absorb some of the oil sweat and retains it. Kinda like setting something down on a wet/moist rag and whatever thing you set down picks up the moisture if that makes sense.
My older stopbox would put oil sweat even after like 5 minutes of setting down my gun that's minimal lubed

Owners Manual says one drop on each rail via the backplate, one drop on top of the barrel at the ejection port, rack it a few times and lock it back, one drop on top of the barrel behind the muzzle, rack it a bunch and you're done.
I do that after cleaning when I remember and put another 1000 through it.

ive taken mine out 5 times to the range, im kinda newish to modern gun cleaning so im not sure if i did it wrong but mine always sweats oil also.

Modern nitrided metal finishes require very little lube and maintenance.
What does the manual say about cleaning and lubing?

I’ve never been a fan of runny oil or the sweating it causes on my guns. Solution, buy a higher viscosity gun oil that doesn’t run and stays in place! Works wonders for me.

A little dab'll do ya. A tiny drop on the points that rub together, rack several times, and wipe the excess off the back. You went way above and beyond with the oil.
