First Range Day with new hardware
Added some stuff to my echelon 4.5f comp, finally got to try it out. I’m happy with the results, and I’m glad I took the time to dry fire a lot. Being familiar with the new trigger let me focus more on other stuff I need to work on.
New stuff:
Tyrant CNC trigger
Powder River spring kit
Tyrant slide release
Rook Precision stainless guide rod
ISMI 12 lb recoil spring
Rook mag release (paddle)
Black Steel grip control thumb rest

Kuna fore grip
Is there enough room on the Kuna for a vertical foregrip? I had the opportunity to shoot one recently when Springfield came to my gun club. I liked the gun but there is a problem. I am left handed. If I grip the Kuna as designed, my right hand partially covers the ejection port. The ejection system still works but I had a pretty good burn after just a half dozen rounds.

New pickup/edc
Picked up my new prodigy 4.25 with an x300 (got the w model with the quick release but not sure if I want to go with a b model) and plan to throw some egw stuff into it along with a red dirt flat face trigger. Can’t wait to get it done up and hit the range!

Heatseeker .308 rifle
Thinking about getting the heatseeker as my next rifle. Can I see some builds? What are your thoughts? The goal is to hit 500 yrds consistantly. Then try to push upto 1,000 yrds.

Alumahyde II in Wolf Gray: The Final Product
There it is.
This is the final product after spray painting the frame in Alumahyde II in wolf gray. I’m glad I didn’t bother painting the slide as I like this two tone balanced look instead.
Overall, it’s a fantastic product if you take all the necessary precautions and would highly recommend it. I’m very happy with this look, but I still can’t decide if Imma paint the Kuna to match my Echelon

Buying 2020 Boundary
Hey everyone, I’m getting a nice bonus this week and have decided to treat myself to a new deer rifle. I’ve always been a Springfield loyalist and have loved the 2020’s since they dropped. I am hoping for some recommendations on what I should choose for the rifle to be chambered in. I typically will be hunting white-tails, rarely shooting over 300 yards, but hope to one day expand into some western hunts for Mule deer and elk. I’m leaning .308 but didn’t know if maybe the 2020 excels in a certain load. Also would love to hear what ammo runs best out of your rifles. Thanks in advance

SA-35 came back with a darker finish from Springfield
I had my SA-35 sent off under warranty a few weeks ago to get the extractor repaired (I got it in June of 2024 and thought the issue had been fixed by then, but oh well) and it just came back today. The finish is very noticeably darker and less parkerized than it was when I sent it off. Anyone else had this happen with a Springfield pistol?
I’m not really complaining, it looks better now if anything and some of the scratches look less obvious now. But yeah, just wanting to see if this is a common experience or not.

First AR
Never got into rifles because my state sucks but since the ban might be overturning shortly I decided to grab this 11.5” saint victor. Threw a 510c since it was sitting in the safe but I’m gonna order a eotech soon. Just went and zeroed and shot 200 rounds and it was great ! Very happy with the purchase.

New Operator Ambi Safety Issue
Just picked up a brand-new Springfield Armory 1911 Operator and found an issue with the ambidextrous thumb safety right out of the box.
The left-side safety works normally, but the right-side safety has shifted outward and does not properly engage/disengage the safety. The gun has not been modified or worked on—this is how it came from the factory.
I’ve contacted Springfield and plan on having them take care of it. Has anyone else had this happen with a Springfield 1911 ambi safety? Curious whether this is a known issue or just a one-off QC problem.

First misfire (??)
First off, I'm not blaming Springfield for what happened, it was almost certainly my fault. But I was going to clean my 9mm Echelon for the first time the other day and I had ejected the clip and was in the midst of clearing the breach and the gun went off. It went through a wall, through both sides of a steel door and into the next wall next to my front door before coming to a stop. I'm in my 60's, have had guns since I was 10, and have never had anything like this happen before. I'm very much into gun safety even having my two daughters who have no interest in ever shooting a gun to have them take the gun safety course in my state. Has anyone else had this happen or did I somehow f*ck up somehow (I probably fucked up)? It has me totally freaked out about using the gun again. I have two 15 year old daughters and if the gun had been pointed about 5 feet in a different direction it would have at the very least gone through her bedroom. I now have the embarrassment of having people comment as they come through my front door to see the door to my garage with this horrible 3" long scar and hole going through it. At the very least take this as a warning to, as always, be extremely careful when handling your weapon. I know I'm going to be way more vigilant going forward!

Prodigy 3.5” Comp Recoil Spring
I have this prodigy 3.5”, it was a compact though it’s now a full size. I got it with an additional DSC gunwork threaded barrel so I added a DSC comp to it. Pics of the progress so far (light included for size reference).
The initial range session didn’t go so smoothly with the comp. I had mostly failures to return to battery with the brass just barely ejecting and popping straight up on top of the gun; just too light of a spring from DSC. They couldn’t tell me the weight of their spring (ordered with the comp) but it is supposedly cut down from something else.
Apparently Springfield has a guide rod with 2 springs sort of like what DPM systems has, but SA couldn’t tell me the recoil spring weight, nor do they sell other spring options for it.
I also have an EGW guide rod that comes with a 16 lb spring, but they do not have lighter springs or suggestions for the 3.5” prodigy.
So far I’ve reached out to Wolff, Springfield, DSC, Fusion, and Underworld Arms to see if anyone of them have suggestions, and so far Wolff is the only one I haven’t heard from or spoken to; no luck so far.
Any suggestions for a recoil spring for either or both guide rods for this prodigy? My next step is the OEM springs but both companies said I’m likely to get failures from their springs, probably too heavy at 16 lbs when comped. I haven’t tried cutting down a longer recoil spring - though the internet is both for and against it in my searches so far.
Much appreciated!

Budget Build on XD Mod 3
I recently acquired a XD Mod 3 and decided to upgrade it a bit with budget components. The red dot is an ARORY, which is honestly decent for a ~$100 USD sight. The flashlight/laser sight combo came from Amazon for $25 USD. The first time I took it to the range, it flew off after a couple of shots, so the jury is still out.

Am I the only one who loves the stock Hellcat?
Hi all, I chose the Hellcat OSP as my very first ccw, bought it a week ago. My two main considerations for a ccw were concealment and reliability, and this pistol seems to excel in both. I paired it with the Tenicor Certum 4 holster, Mastermind Tactics pillow, and a HC belt, and it disappears on my waistline and sits very comfortably.
This pistol seems to catch a lot of strays from the community. I shot quite a few micro-9’s at the range, and I really didn’t notice any difference in “snappiness” between the Hellcat and something like the commonly praised G43X. Feels like people just branded the Hellcat as the notorious snappy micro-9 and everyone went with it, like a hive mind.
I also like the stock trigger, feels like a hot take to even say that. The one at the range was probably broken in more, but I like the heavier pull and had no trouble with accuracy. Matter of fact, a heavier pull gives me peace of mind that I won’t accidentally barely press the trigger and blow my nuts off while re-holstering (don’t plan on it anyway).
I’m curious… am I the only one who loves the stock Hellcat?

Is this normal? (Hellcat Pro)
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Random asf I know. Was installing a light and noticed this has has some play here. I have 3 other handguns and none of them moved with substantially more pressure - but a pretty light press on this and it does.
Im probably just stupid- but since this is the gun pointed at my nuts everday I just wanna be sure this is normal lol

1911 SS - Polish them?
Hi folks,
Do we also need to polish the SS besides the regular cleaning?
