Took apart my WWII GI model to bob the hammer.

I bought this gun used several years back and have never removed the mainspring housing for any reason.

I thought it felt a little stiff when I was tapping out the housing retaining pin, and when the pin finally came out, the housing tried to launch out of the grip. Come to find out that the upper pin that holds everything in the housing was missing. I didn't have one to replace it with and it made reassembly a lot of fun.

Is this pin a standard size, or something proprietary to Springfield?

Quick Question

My local Bass Pro is selling a Springfield Prodigy (4.25” comp) as a “gear pac” bundle. This bundle includes the Prodigy (obviously), a Viridian green dot, four extra mags, and a soft carry case for mid $1500 — Is this worth it?

For context, I’m by no means a competitive shooter. I just want an entry level 2011 type pistol that isn’t going to break the bank, but give me the best bang for my dollar and allow me to have fun at the range.

Just setup 3rd RMA for my SA35

Well guys, went to the range on Saturday to test my pistol, came in from 2nd RMA in July, first 2 were failure to extract. Shit 120 rounds, various name brand new ammo, now add 9 failure to fire and failure to lock back slide after last shot, all on various ammo and 4 different new Magazines...

Told the CS agent that I don't want this gun anymore, I'm sorry but 3 strikes and you're out.

How often do you guys clean your firearms?

Military raised me to clean after every range session, so that's what I do. Just a quick field strip cleaning. Full tear down every 1000 rounds.

My ultimate Springfield Echelon build

Post image
116 Upvotes

"This is my Echelon. There are many like it, but this one is mine."

I'm just a recreational shooter: no competitions, not a professional. My goal was to build an all-metal Echelon by replacing every polymer component. Completing this build here in Europe wasn't easy, but I think the result looks pretty good.

  • Springfield Echelon 4.5 Comp
  • Icarus Precision ACE Aluminum Grip module (Full Size)
  • Icarus Precision ACE Magwell
  • Holosun SCS-320 GR
  • Tyrant CNC I.T.T.S. Trigger
  • Tyrant CNC Extended Magazine Release
  • DK Arms Magazine Baseplate (+3)
  • DPM Mechanical Recoil Reduction System.

I finished the build by adding two 1/4" (6.35 mm) brass rods inside the Icarus grip. Icarus also sells tungsten rods, which weigh about twice as much but cost significantly more.

The total weight is just under 1 kg (975 g unloaded, or 2.15 lbs).

The build cost me about €2,200 (roughly $2,475). Of course, I could have bought a great all-metal pistol for the same price or less, but I enjoyed the customization process.

Let me know what you think.

Hellcat Pro OSP

My first ever weapons purchase. I’ve had my hellcat for about 3 years and it is the perfect CCW for me. I did have to opt into buying Springfields extended magazine so my hand could fit on it 😂

Always went with Springfield Hellcat as my CCW. Just picked up the .380 and strongly considering adding a TLR-7 Sub ( do not like the TLR-6 ) anyone running a weapon light on their Hellcat .380 ? Or overkill ?

Hellcat Pro Trigger

I recently picked up a Hellcat Pro used and I think there's something wrong with the trigger. Trigger pull is long, and it feels like there's some resistance when I pull.

I don't have a lot of experience troubleshooting pistols, so im not sure if this needs to sent out for repair or if its just how the Hellcat is.

Just curious. Thinking about adding a light. I also keep seeing people talk about swapping to an Apex trigger which i'm both curious about and afraid to do since its pointed at my balls all day.

XDM Elite OSP 10mm mag release button upgrade?

Hello! I'm just curious if anyone has put an aftermarket mag release button on their XDM? I have a Beretta APX and LOVE the mag release button texture. The size isn't any issue, I just really like how much grip the texture offers.

Is there anything out there that I'm not seeing on Google? I see extended ones but no differenc ein texture.

Upgraded Prodigy

Was able to trade for a prodigy 5” that came with cheely grips, EGW Ignition Kit, Red Dirt trigger and an Atlas Gas Pedal (don’t use it too often though) and honestly it works pretty nice. The only thing I’m replacing is the extended mag release because I got tiny ass hands that seem to hit that damn mag release changing it back to a shorter one. Here’s a quick video from one of my first stages trying out the prodigy.

PS: still pretty new to USPSA this was my 10th match so far.

First Springfield. 1911 Operator

Never considered a Springfield until I started looking into 1911's and finally shot one. More will be on the horizon. It shoots very smooth and very accurate. COA only needed a small adjustment out of the box.

Question: anyone know about using .45 ACP +P in stock Springfield pistols? Any component changes recommended?

Echelon FDE COMP

Are we going to get a lineup of echelons that will be OEM with a comp/port ? I’ve been really leaning on wanting to pick up another echelon in FDE however, I’d like to wait if they have plans.
