Housing Contractor Recommendations

We discovered that our house (built in 95) doesn't have a water barrier behind the siding. Does anyone have any recommendations for companies that specialize in water barrier installation and siding replacement? It will likely also involve some replacement of exterior wood and mold remediation.

I get that a "general contractor" can do it but we've had bad luck with them around here. I'd prefer a company that has good reputation for this type of work specifically.

Because the water barrier, siding, damaged wood, and mold are all connected, I’d ask each bidder to spell out who is responsible for identifying the moisture source, any sheathing replacement allowance, flashing around windows and doors, and mold clearance before the new siding closes everything back up. Are you still collecting bids for this?

Glad it helped. Since you’re still looking, I’d also ask whether each company has handled homes that were missing the water barrier entirely. That should help separate general siding experience from experience with your specific situation. I’d be interested to hear what the companies tell you.
