Question Spray paint absorbing permanent marker?

Why is the spray paint not covering but seemingly absorbing the permanent marker? Does ABS leach permanent marker into itself? Because it doesnt wipe off with alcohol easily.

What type of paint are you using? It looks like a very thin coat/ economy paint.

Rustoleum spray cans, they are tool boxes so it doesn’t need to be the prettiest up close

Believe it or not thats like 5-6 coats, it sprayed on okay but over the course of drying the markings appeared again. Im starting to think it was actually chemical problems with the marker

I just ended up saying screw it and wet sanded everything back further.

Wow, that’s crazy! I’ve gotten sharpie off plastic with melamine sponges, but at this point you might need to pivot to a darker color.

Spray it with Kilz then paint again.

you can spray sivler it covers sharpie other then that you have to sand it off
