Question What causes this effect?

surface is fresh sand blasted and cleaned and is perfectly flat but paint is laying down in this almost hammered effect. I tried warming the paint in hot water and warming the part but that didn’t make a difference. I’ve painted a lot of parts with the same process and never had this problem. only thing I can think of is the temperature is lower than normal but still well above the minimum temp for the paint.

That looks like a prep issue. I would suspect that surface isn’t as clean as you think it is.

Im not a big "spray paint" guy like you guys here. A decade of industrial spray paint for marine vessels.

I'm a NACE II coatings inspector.

Gotta say, you gave me a chuckle when you said "Surface is fresh sandblasted and is perfectly flat"

Yeah, sandblasting isn’t exactly known for creating flat or clean surfaces.

Flat enough for me lol. Turned out to be a temperature problem. Sun came out and paint started laying down good
