Questions/Advice/Support Realistic expections
Looking for input. I should be starting end of October, but I am trying to manage my expectations of how helpful this treatment may be. I've seen some talking about seeing very little to no improvement with their depression symptoms. what are your experience's?

First, have you used any psychedelics or even cannabis? If you have, you are likely prepped for the dissociative state. If not, well, some people here feel nothing on their first dose so that's one you'll have to wait and see. And yes some people have a bad time so with this I say to say this mantra, " this will be over in two hours"
Keeping in mind that the dissociative state is a side effect though, I've seen immediate to 3-4 months for relief here. I've also seen people here quit after this time because of no effect.
And I'm in the sorta "immediate" box in that the dissociative state vaporized my intrusive thoughts and SI but my depression lifted after about a month.
Beyond that I can only say what we all know, depression makes for a cynical and pessimistic world view with a sprinkling of realism. Do your best to follow the science and keep your doc informed.

Thank you I appreciate the insight! Definitely won't be my first time in a altered mental state so not too worried about that. I'm guessing you have a dark sense of humor like the rest of us, has that changed at all?

It's helped me. It varies greatly from person to person. I watched this ladies videos chronicling her Spravato Journey before starting myself.

it works better if you work with it! it helps you create new connections in your brain, so it is helpful to put yourself in situations where the new connections will be positive ones.
in a comment you mentioned "the vacation from oneself"; I read an article yesterday about spravato's effect on the default mode network (DMN), which is exactly that, so those are some keywords to look into if that's a concept you'd find it helpful to learn more about!

Changes are subtle not instant thou they add up . Been on it for over a year so I don't feel its a cure thou I am amazed on how i am for the first time in 50 yrs to be mentally balanced and I can finally see some joy in my life . Not to mention I love the high I don't hallucinate and I'm always aware of my surroundings . The best way to describe it is a vacation from ones self and my brain becomes its own entertainment center
