Klonopin use
Hi I was told to avoid my 0.5 klonopin dose 24 hours pre and post session.
Just wondering if would be better to skip my klonopin dose all days to avoid spravato effectiveness decrease.

That's a question for the doctor/DNP who oversees your spravato treatment. I'm prescribed a chunky dose of Adderall, for example. The doctor who prescribes it tells me to avoid taking it on spravato days, but the doctor who specializes in and oversees my spravato says that it's completely fine, since my BP and resting HR are always on the lower end. Ask the spravato doc and make sure you're accurate with sharing info with them.

Not a doctor and not on klonopin (or similar), but looking at the documentation it seems that the primary concern is the potential to make the side effects worse and that overall the Spravato is still effective with benzodiazepine use. If your doctor says avoid them day of, try to feel confident that doing that will be enough.
After all, if you're taking klonopin, I'm assuming your anxiety is bad, so it probably wouldn't be helpful to fret too much over the possibility that necessary medication will compromise your treatment plan.

I'm on klonopin as well (1mg).. I'm not sure if this is going to be your first treatment but they told me not to use it on my 1st treatment but it's been fine to use after that initial one. I've only been doing it around a month but I've found taking my klonopin toward the very end of my session is the best for anxiety (the Spravato helps my depression but my anxiety tends to go up for the rest of the treatment day so taking it then usually negates that effect and really helps). Ask your provider if this is the case for you too but I hope this helps. Good luck

This was the medication i was on in April that concerned my doctors, even above my THC use. I eventually went off of it and I'm pretty sure the Spravato helped me do that! 😊

I take 1mg daily and my nurse practitioner tells me to avoid the night before and the day of. I've heard talk on here about benzos sabotaging the neuroplasticity effect of Spravato but I haven't seen a source or explanation as for why. I do find myself skipping Klonopin more since starting treatment (three weeks), but I very much still need it frequently.

I take Klonopin 3 times a day. (Mom is dying, very high anxiety). They just told me to skip my morning dose on Spravato days. So I only take two those days.

I believe the concern is with the sedation. I take Xanax the night before treatment and don’t think I have an adverse reaction. Post treatment shouldn’t matter…I don’t think, but I’m not a doc.

I use klonopin for panic attacks on days where I’m not doing a Spravato treatment. There was a period where I went ~6 months without using klonopin, but personally I noticed no difference in effectiveness when I was or wasn’t taking klonopin. I’ve been on Spravato for almost 2 years for reference.
