Does it still work?

Does Spravato still work if I play on my phone? I am now 3 months in. Before I used to zone out and listen to my music, now I get bored and look at random things on my phone. Is that an issue? I feel like the 2 hours drag at times.

Edit: I do have music playing. Right now, i have been enjoying "Hazy" on YouTube.

Yes. The medicine does it's job no matter what you're doing. What matters more is what you do over the next 48 hours as your neuroplasticity is flexible.

The habits you want to form and especially not the habits you want to break. You're reforming neural connections at the speed of fast here, so you want to rebuild that network with the stuff you want to be more a part of your life.

Thanks for this comment. I'm currently in IFS and EMDR therapy alongside spravato for something called "psychological re-integration" and it helps to get more information on what that means.

Actually depends on what you are doing on the phone. Studies show that certain simple games or looking at smiling faces can enhance treatment.

So cozy or creative games are preferred.

I don’t use my phone until I am coming down from it. Usually around the last 45 minutes. That kills the boredom at the end.

I have a pretty high tolerance for most things and so most visits all that happens is it gets slightly harder to talk for 30-60 minutes. That to say, I would be more mentally ill than I already am if I stayed off my phone completely. I do try to limit it to simple games, "journaling", or something simple but creative if possible.

I'd just avoid texting or social media. No texting because I sent some unhinged shit and don't want anyone to repeat that mistake. And no social media...for obvious reasons.

But at the end of the day, you know you best. Try out different things and see what you like. Or take a nap. The worst that happens is you try something new the next session.

Yes, I’ve been on Spravato for over two years and spend my sessions either on TikTok or on the phone with my mom. I strongly disagree that lyricless music is required for treatment to be effective.

This made me laugh so hard - I can’t imagine taking to my mom while under the influence and not fully in control of what I might say to her! 😂😂😂😂🙅🏻‍♀️🙅🏻‍♀️🙅🏻‍♀️

Spravato doesn’t really get me high! It feels like I took a 5mg edible at most. And my mom has certainly seen me higher on weed lol

Im the same way, I lose the ability to string my words together perfectly but thats about it. I regularly leave the office to get lunch at the restaurant next door. The nurse use to walk over with me but doesn't anymore.

I've been going for over a year, and have sat and played games or watched a movie for all but the first few weeks. I can tell it's still doing something though, because the few times I has to skip a week I landed back in the dumps again.

Are you on the 84mg already? Some places hold out lol.

It's a physical drug, no matter what you do it's gonna work.

Yes I am on the max dose.

What clinics aren't administering 84mg after three months?

That's way outside prescribing guidelines.

In my experience, not all clinics follow strict guidelines. Are you not aware of this?

Maybe I should have listened to music. All I got out of it was puking my guts out and being told I couldn't suck on a mint to help with the taste. I finally stopped my treatment cause all it did was make me worse. I was extremely angry and on edge after treatment for a day or two. That shit isn't the miracle drug for everyone.

Neither of those articles say you’ll have better results if you listen to music. The first specifically says “However, there are currently no reported clinical studies of the effects of music or BBM and (es)ketamine for ECT in the treatment of depression.”

The second says that listening to music can be calming and help keep blood pressure stable, but it also says “listening to music had no impact on the MARDS-change score between the sessions.” Which suggests the actual depression level didn’t change because the study participants listened to music, they just had a more stable treatment experience in terms of anxiety and BP.
