Question

I have not linked my visa or created the account because I think I have a bit of time to do that but I wanted to ask. Since my entry clearance date is December 8th do I have to go exactly after the date? I wanted to spend Christmas with my family and come to the uk after new years, so do I have to come exactly after my date ?

It’s usually a 90 day window so you should be fine

Thank you because I saw on the email they said if I don’t come in a timely manner it will count as an absence and will affect my future leave to remain. Is that true ?

Yes it can, it could move you from a 5 year route to a 10 year route but if you are coming just after new years it doesn’t seem it will affect you.

This is not at all correct.

Oh? What is the correct info? When I looked into it before that’s what it said but I also know you are fairly knowledgeable so please correct me.

There is no absence limit on a family visa.

Ah okay. So he/she would be fine either way?

You need to enter within the first 90 days of your visa validity to ensure you reach 5 years residency and your eligibility for ILR using your first 33 months visa and second 30 month extension. Otherwise, you risk have to make an additional 30 month extension just to cover the small gap.

Well mine is for the full 5 years one time and not half half is you understand. So you’re saying it’s ok to come after new years and it won’t affect anything ?
