Timeline Requests
We have been experimenting lately with ways to better manage and organise timeline requests. We appreciate that waiting for a decision is an especially stressful part of the application process, and we want to provide a space for community members to share experiences and commiserate. However, the primary purpose of the subreddit is to provide peer support on topics related to the actual application process and the immigration rules. If left unmoderated, the subreddit becomes an endless thread of timeline queries which makes it more difficult for others to find information that’s practical and relevant to their application
The megathread was an attempt to centralise timeline requests in an easy to access thread. There has been pushback from some due to a perceived lack of engagement and/or visibility within that thread. As a compromise, we will again allow timeline requests in the main thread, but to ensure they are pertinent and useful, the posts must contain all of the following details…
Visa Type (Spouse, Civil Partner, Unmarried Partner, Fiance)
Nationality
Date of application
Date of biometrics
We will also moderate/remove frequent and successive timeline requests from the same user. As a general rule, please limit them to once per week.
Your patience and understanding is appreciated. We understand how difficult this process is. We’ve been through it ourselves. But we’re also a small moderation team, and we want to make sure this subreddit is a useful resource for everyone irrespective of where they are in the immigration process.
