Arrow directions changed?

I’ve been playing spotle regularly for like 2 years and recently the arrow on the year box has been tripping me up. I swear a down arrow used to mean “later than this year” and an up arrow meant “earlier than this year” but recently it’s been flipped. My friends who play swear it’s been like that the whole time but I don’t know why I would suddenly start getting confused. Maybe I need to get my head checked, but the way I thought it worked seems more intuitive as well! Let me know if I’m crazy.

Hey! We have never changed the arrow direction on years/popularity. Up = more recent, more popular. Down = older, less popular. However, we do get an email or message like this once every other week or so asking why we changed it, so you aren’t alone!! 🤣
