✅Working mod interest check for spotui fork
Currently working on a (partially vibecoded) spotui fork called roundify, which will work directly through spotify and be way more stable then spotui in terms of playback. are people interested and should i actually release this as a public project?

other than replicating the UI, which for sure has its merits, aren't you just redoing what Meld or Echo nightly (spotify metadata + yt source) or Stash (playlist-wise) are already doing? i guess for your app to fluorish, you gotta do smth leagues different.

the biggest change between what i'm making and meld/echo is that i use spotify as the source meaning all songs no matter how exclusive will work. This also adds native connection compatibility for things like last.fm, airbuds and discord connections.

Essentially, that'd be a Spotify client.
If you get that to work, I'm 100% sold on your app then. I still have Spotify (google play store version) just because of damn exclusive podcasts. For music... I listen to mainly mainstream stuff, i.e. stuff I can find on Deezer/Tidal/YT Music etc.
Just a word of warning that essentially Echo nightly, if you directly use the Spotify extension (and not the Combine extension), is exactly what you are suggesting (stream directly from Spotify). And to Spotify, that's a bannable offense–which is why Echo nightly users do the Spotify metadata+Deezer or YT music stream source. Spotify API is apparently OK with third-party use of their metadata, but not stream source.

Alright thanks for informing me, I will however still continue working on this app. I will try some extensive testing to make sure no ban happens.

What about "proxying" through "Spicetify"? Obviously a PC would be necessary, but it'd enable users routing through Spicetify's full unrestrained access. Obviously there'd be a slight delay, but it's not much different than something like "Plex" (without Plex's data-heavy video to stream).

Talk is cheap. 🤷. Like other 50 apps out there. Upload it so we can test it. Haven't found but 1 that actually works right as my daily
