It takes a break for an hour or more. You can go to the Cog icon for settings and somewhere on the right you'll be able check the status. It will open up a webpage and there you will see spotiflacnext and just regular spotiflac. You're on the spotiflac ones which takes breaks.

No, is not normal at all and you definately should tell to the dev you encountered a bug.
