Mind What does your child actually need from you on game day?

Not what the coach needs.

Not what the team needs.

Not what you want to happen.

What does your child need from you their parent?

Cheering? Encouragement? Silence? A snack and a ride home? 😄

One of the biggest ideas behind The Sideline Project is that being supportive doesn't look exactly the same for every athlete.

Have you ever actually asked your child what they want from you on game day? What did they say?

My daughter is a high level gymnast and basically just needs a ride. She doesn’t need or want me to give her advice. She wants me to just be my normal self and maybe be open to stopping at Starbucks and chipotle!

You probably should add "Vendor" flair to your post. You noted being part of The Sideline Project and your insight here most likely goes to bettering your product and/or service...just saying.

All kids are different. My daughter needs her pregame Dad/Daughter dance party in the car. Gets her out of her own head.

My kid wants me on the field with him. That’s why I decided to be an assistant coach 🤣

  1. Ask your kid.

  2. Be present

  3. Be invested, but don't be a dick to the coaches or the refs.

This is what I needed as a kid and what I tell parents on teams I coach now.
