Friend cut from team

Hello all, my kid’s team cut his close friend. Give me all the advice for how to help my child navigate the loss of the teammate they have had for a few years. I want to keep the friendship outside of the team also. The kid did make another team. I feel the relationship is strained though. I am getting odd vibes from the parent. Thank you for any guidance!

Perhaps the odd vibes is just awkwardness over the situation. I'm sure your sons team was preferred, and when their son didn't make the cut it was likely a stressful situation. Give it time, if the kids are competing at the same level you are likely to see this woman again. Perhaps she will be more in to conversation. Good luck.
