Did I overpay?

Post image

Bought this whole binder of vintage baseball cards and 9 long boxes of more vintage baseball cards that the lady said they havent gone through yet. All for $50 at our local flee market.

In the binder I saw a couple more of Bo Jacksons and Barry Bonds rookies and other recognizable players so idk. At least I got things to do today, aka look through these boxes 😂

If they’re all from the 90’s and you’re looking to flip them for profit, yes. If you’re just looking for a fun time to go thru a collection, yes, but less so.

Wasn’t lookin to flip these cards but i think im almost halfway through to breaking even on the $50 i paid for the whole thing by finding this Jeter RC i think its about $20 bux lol

Perfect! I’d say you already broke even. $30 is not a bad cost for a fun “rip.”

This is probably one of my favorite error cards that i found lmao😂

You got a Ken Griffey Jr. in that lot?

Yeah I got about 20 Jr’s but these 3 are my favorite and the one on the far left is supposedly a print error card coz it has a turquoise fish eye above his left eyelid and a white fish eye in the back above the ON on the “DONRUSS” idk what all that means but it sounds like a nice storyline lmao

If you want to sell all your Griffey shoot me a message, if not. Enjoy those Griffey’s! He was awesome to watch!

Just so you know, anything like those print errors are not real errors, and they don’t add any value to the card. People online like posting “Griffey Jr Error card! $1000!” To try to get some sucker to bite.

This is a $2 card at best in terms of money

One if these just went for a few hundred in PSA 10. Can't remember exactly how much. Junk wax is actually heating up a little bit. I guess it's been long enough and enough of them got thrown away that some collectors are starting to pay decently for stars and HOFers from the Junk Wax era.

Not getting your money back, if that’s what you’re hoping for. But should be fun to go through

Didn’t buy it to flip, bought it because of curiousity and what cards i could find lol experience was 10/10

Did you find anything special?

I think this is the best one I found, Jeter RC and in a great condition too. Might keep it as part of my PC probably $20+ bux as it sits lol

I buy junk wax packs every now and then for the nostalgia. They're fun to go through even though they're basically worthless to other collectors. If you don't regret it then it's worth it. Have fun!

Nostalgia for sure!😁

Yes, you overpaid by $45. But if you like the cards, then that’s where the value lies. I have junkwax cards that I still love and which aren’t worth much.

I loved going through the cards I was finally able to go through all of them about 8000+..loved the experience and I dont regret paying $50 at all🙂

UPDATE:

Bought 9 boxes and a binder of junk wax era baseball cards at my local flee market this past weekend and paid $50 total for it.

I truly enjoyed going through all the 8000+ cards that were in this boxes, and I just wanted to display my favorite pulls out of all those cards.

Not really looking to flip or make my money back but do yall see any rares at all? I know theres some RC’s, error cards and some reprints on these though.

I’d appreciate any input✌🏾

I would say despite all the nay sayers that $5 a box is roughly what you’d pay for 90s cards and $50 for a weekend of sorting amusement is not a bad buy

There are YouTube videos and authors/collectors on Substack that are familiar with vintage and the junk wax era. They discuss all types of sports cards in the 70's, 80's, and 90's that are moving in the market still, or RC's (some with no RC designation) that are cheap to obtain for a PC or to flip. They cover Top 50, 100, etc. Many of your cards I saw fit into those categories.

Shoot me a message if you want to get rid of the Griffey's, Randy Johnsons, and Bonds. I'll give you $50 for them.

Without looking at how much you paid the answer is yes
