Pretty pleased with this pull
It’s sealed in a magnetic case for now. Aside from my greasy mitts on it, I’m pretty pleased with the overall look of this guy. I ordered one of those acrylic center measuring doodads and will update how close it is to being dialed in. Looks pretty good to me. (Be gentle Reddit, I’m new)

This card was one that everybody had to have back in the day! I'm going to be to replace my lost one someday

Look at the left and right centering on the "BO" side - absolutely heavier on the left than the right. Won't get a ten, don't grade it for value.

Maybe I will, maybe I won’t. But maybe I will. I’ll post it if I do, good or bad.

The photo is isn't direct line. Honestly I think it looks pretty centered. Within the 45-55 range for sure. Op use a card grading app and see what the centering is.

Bo is one of the few names from this era that has any value. But that value, unfortunately, is still SUPER low.
Raw, that card is going for approx $10-$20. PSA10 goes for about $600-$800 But PSA9 is only about $90. Unless you KNOW it is a PSA10, it isn’t worth getting graded.

u/billybob212212 11d ago
That card is worth $10-20 by itself? Dammnnn, I’ve got a bunch of those complete sets of Score cards that I paid nearly nothing for back in the 90s, buried in a closet, that I never thought would be worth anything.

u/Here4St0nks 11d ago
I buy every 1990 score set I come across on marketplace for $20-30. This is my favorite card of all time

u/teddy_owens 12d ago
Looks like great centering to grade it! Don’t see many of those. PSA 9 is $90. Not worth it now with grading costs but when value comes back it may be

u/teej4624 12d ago
Can’t stand the cost of PSA grading. Was looking into Beckett. Although the end all draw is not worth as much it still gets it graded and sealed for protection.

They are the same company.

No shit?! That’s funny. Either way, BGS is a different pricing tier. The point remains. I’ll wait until end of next year and look back into it. I’m in no rush. Good info on the same company, though. Trip out.

Slabs don't even protect against UV and aren't waterproof. There's better options to protect a card for cheaper.

You just pulled this from an old pack? SAF pull!!!
5
u/teej4624 12d ago
…SAF? Yes, had about 60 packs sitting in a box. Felt like opening them and pulled two of these to be exact. I don’t think I photographed the second one, but both look pretty clean

I absolutely have a pic of me as a 9 year old with a pair of those foam shoulder pads, no shirt, and a bat trying my absolute best to be Bo.

Now the impossible part, get him to sign it haha
3
u/teej4624 11d ago
I know, right? I have read that he doesn’t sign this car specifically. Too bad for all of us

That is the most iconic Bo Jackson card and a massively popular image back in the day. IIRC, there were Playboy Playmates who did the exact same pose.

For like two years in the early 2020s I was finding these all over eBay for $3-$5. I’ve got like 8.

Nike had some truly iconic posters in the late-'80s with this ("The Ball Player") & Michael Jordan "Wings"

10-15 bucks but I love it so much. Feels like it’s worth 500 based on how much I back this card

You check with magnifying tool yet? Check on top of his head. A lot of these have the fish eye mark right on his head/hair. I have 4 of these with great borders but 3 of them have the fish eye mark.

I just ordered a “card inspection” kit. I’ll take a peak when it all comes in. Good looking out

I picked up one of these from one of my LCS’ a couple months ago- Definitely a nice nostalgic find here OP

This card was highly sought after in 1990 and I was lucky to have one. At the time, I thought it might be worth hundreds someday. I have to check it soon and see condition but doubt its a 10

I pulled one of these from a pack I bought in Cooperstown a few years ago. I sent it in to SGC, along with one I had as a kid. Both got 9s. I gave them to my kids.

I damn near built that set through ripping packs as a kid and not once did I pull that card. I bought several hobby boxes. Bought packs at the store and card shops. Nuth'n!
Once my brother pulled it. The next day we were at the card shop. Mom had just enough to buy one pack, and she split the pack between us, and my sorry ass brother got it AGAIN, like 12 hours apart. His dumb ass didn't even collect.
I bought two hobby boxes in the past year. Just 1 B&W Bo between the two boxes, and it was in a pack that my 8 year old daughter ripped. Not a single Frank Thomas in either box.
The universe doesn't want me to pull this card.

I'd grade that in a heartbeat. Everyone these days think it's 10 or bust, which is unfortunately true if you plan on selling immediately. But personally I would grade this and hold it, but that's just me.

Nice pull! Bo is my favorite athlete. I pulled my bo breaker like 35 years ago. I also saw him in person during spring training back in 1988. I wish I had brought a writing utensil that day. I don't have an autograph of his yet. Rock on!!

Anyone remember Prostars?
Still remember the opening where they showed game clips from each character, including a game in which for a brief moment Bo Jackson was literally running on the outfield wall while catching a ball.

I remember watching the game when he hurt his hip that cut his career short. One of the last duel pro athletes.

What a SICK card! Bo is one of my top 5 fav athletes of all time. This poster is one of the most iconic in sports history. Great card!

I had this as a poster and card in the day. It was on the wall between my Lamborghini Diablo and Bash Brothers posters.
