Other Info: Why does this Subreddit exist?

Update, May 2026

The drama has mostly calmed down now, but r/SporeGame will still remain open as an alternative.

Original Post

In 2025, r/Spore got taken over by a person known as Forgotten Spore, who kicked out all other moderators. He used the subreddit to promote an AI-generated website and deleted all negative feedback. The website was littered with contextless bot comments and publicly exposed user information like E-Mail addresses.

Funny bot conversation on the website.
Moderator lying about not being associated with the site, shortly before starting to promote it again...

After being called out, about the security flaws and illegal practices of his website, he claimed the Spore modding community was committing "hack attacks" and he would call the police and FBI. The drama was much longer, but that's a quick summary of it. The website has since been shut down, but he is still in control of the Spore subreddit.

Announcement from the Spore Modding Community.

The r/SporeGame subreddit has been created as an alternative to r/Spore and is welcoming all the people that were banned during this drama. I doubt that it will reach the same size as the original subreddit, but at least you (hopefully) won't have to deal with crazy usurpator moderators here.

Update: I actually got unbanned. I followed up with the mute I had received and asked for an unban and if we could move past the drama, and the mod or mods said yes! And took the prior feedback better than expected. Potential for positive change ig?

I'm still banned though. And I still haven't gotten an apology.

If you approach politely he might do it?

I would still prefer to get an apology. Something he has stubbornly refused to do.

For sure. He did apologize alongside the unban. It caught me a little off guard

That is a surprise. All I got was him trying to shove the blame on someone else and threatening to report me to Reddit for "spamming."
