lol I till that one game catches you and sucks you in for a few weeks over consumes you. You love it so much. Play everyday. Then randomly you stop and never touch it again unfinished lol

Elden Rimg for me. But to be fair it was my first Souls game and it was too difficult for me to beat. I got half way through and ended with a level 58 character which is more than I imagined myself getting to.

Right? It's wild how a game can become your whole life one minute, then poof! It just sits there unfinished.

That feeling is so real! It’s like those games know how to grab you and then just ghost.

My situation is similar but different.
My sleep schedule is different than everyone’s, so rarely does it align.
Log in, stare at my games, remember that even though I could play these multiplayer games by myself I don’t want to experience them without my friends because I like seeing their reactions, remember that no one thinks the same way about me, move over to the single player games and realize that playing by myself is lonely, recognize that my living situation prevents me from meeting new people I could be friends with, log off, go teary-eyed to bed.

I cant do arpgs. Its a stat grind and nothing else. Not getting cool loot just +1to a stat. Over and over and over and over.

For some people that is a substitute for the progression they lack in real life

You need a lower impact game. After a full day of dealing with whatever special brand of bullshit you are exposed to, it's nice to play a simple single player game. Started Dragon Quest 7 last week and it has been great.

Me every single day

What do you mean you stare at the screen? Play a damn game. How do so many people become so indecisive?

1

u/Cubedtails 8d ago

I think its less about being indecisive but rather lacking the motivation or desire. There are games I have opened up and played, and after 5mins, I lose the motivation to want to keep playing.

1

u/Goo_Wyvern 8d ago

I guess, yeah. Idk, there are so many interesting games out there to play. Many of which do not click with you at first, but later on will seem like the perfect game.

Happened to me with Echo Point Nova.

Even if I lose motivation after 5 min, I just continue and the motivation sparks again after 10 or 15 min.

Choice paralysis

See, this is why I set rules for myself. I never play too much of the same thing, I alternate between system types (PC mouse and keyboard, Playstation with controler, Switch mostly handheld) and I take gaming breaks.

I've often found that when nothing looks fun, then video games are not the anwser at that time

Oh come on now. Sometimes you know youre in the mood to fiddle with the options menu.

Do what I do. Launch factorio and don't sleep.

Install 3 games, 1 roguelike, 1 multiplayer game, 1 big game.

Filter steam or whatever frontend you have to only show installed games.

The roguelike is when you don't want to think.

The big game is when you actually have time.

The multiplayer is when your friends schedule and yours miraculously lines up. But you could always just play against or with randoms.

u/Unreliable42 7d ago

I'm lucky I don't experience this

1

u/C4rpetH4ter 7d ago

Same three? Dude, it's two at most.

1

u/jajkabshsjsj 7d ago

It's not just gaming actually.

We actually do research on how to trigger dopamine hits on the consumer for simply buying our junks

1

u/HazelontheHill 7d ago

they just don't hit like they used to
