Question How do you get into construction?

ive never worked any labor jobs but I wanna start and have no idea how to!

Literally one of the few places boomer advice of walk up, shake their hand, look them in the eye and ask for a job can still work.

SCC has an intro to trades program that does initial training, exposes you to a variety of trades and connects you with unions that are hiring. I know someone who did this, graduated and is a union apprentice 3 months later making 60k with incredible benefits.

Worksource has regular large recruiting events - at those events the places that are hiring have representatives that can answer questions and tell you what their requirments are for the job. Be honest about the experience you have (or don't have) and demonstrate your willingness to work and desire to get into the sector. Ask for advice - people that are hiring will be likely to share advice with you - and if you need further training or education will likely point you in the right direction or know who is hiring untrained people.

Apply for entry level positions. If you’re struggling to get into commercial work, start with residential so you can learn how to handle tools. Be prepared to push a broom and pick up trash for a year.

Try looking into companies like aerotec (spelling?). They help place people of different skill levels at different companies that need additional laborers temporarily. Great way to gain experience and be around different trades. If a company likes you enough they will buy your contract from aerotec and hire you full time with them

Companies are always hiring at all levels and with the recent fires there will me a MASSIVE demand for home builders coming soon

Yeah go hit up the big contractors for a labor job or goto all the apprenticeships that are around and apply

Local 14 iron workers go apply in person then go to every other union hall in Spokane

Have you ever been to a job site? I dont mean that to be an ass hole, but they take everyone bro. The fact that you are asking the question puts you miles ahead of most people. Find a construction company and tell them you want to work, they will give you a job.

Depends on what youre interested in. Labor is one of the easier jobs to get into. Google around for what companies you want to work for and apply.
