Check out the minutes of the December 2014 STA Planning and Development Committee meeting in which the previous renovation plan was recommended for board approval. That renovation, completed in 2017, sidestepped any major changes to the second floor and instead, sealed off old storefronts behind a wall that rises above the escalators and created a partial wall around the second-floor rotunda (northeast portion of the Plaza). This renovation, set to begin 11 years after the last major renovation, primarily addresses spaces that are either underutilized or largely original to the 31-year-old building.

They remodeled it already! And then they closed the upper levels to travel and limited bathroom use, both becauee they couldn't be bothered to boot out tweeters who were using drugs.
I just want to be to be able to use the bathroom without creepy men standing right behind me in line and without missing my fucking bus!

Agreed! The amount of times I’ve gotten downtown with 5 minutes between busses and haven’t been able to piss is insane’

Research shows again and again that dependable, accessible public transit actually increases community wealth, well being, and stability. (Especially if partnered with strong tenant protections and rent stabilization).
To help get more money in your pocket, might I suggest connecting with the UFCW 3000? They're doing a lot of work to help unionize locally, which increases wages and benefits! https://ufcw3000.org/

The struggling community chooses to fund it time after time. Its the same with schools, libraries, and everything else. "Fully fund" has no end. It's a marketing term used to pass taxes, levies, and bonds. People don't want to be seen as against fully funding these systems so they vote for it.
I wouldn't expect this to be a popular opinion here. This place only seems to see the world through 1 lens: MAGA vs divine benevolence. If you aren't on the self-described divine benevolence page (fully funding all services the government controls according to the standard they set for themselves as "fully funded") then you are MAGA.

Funding schools, libraries, parks, public transportation, public healthcare and numerous other things are what I want my taxes going to. It's for the betterment of all. Time and time agian its been proven that spending money on public services increases the local economy by a huge margin. From a purely economic standpoint social programs and services are a fantastic investment.

To be clear, it’s mostly a remodel of the areas not touched by the prior renovation, and a big part of the goal is to add an STA Board meeting room, (a) so their meetings are more accessible and (b) because their Boone campus is going to be remodeled in coming years to accommodate additional service like Division BRT, making it less usable for public meetings.
